My latest suggestion... (I suggested this at work where we just buy birthday cards) is instead of spending £1.50 on a birthday card, buy a £1 gift voucher instead - many stores sell these & the card comes free!
Then they get an extra present out of the vouchers inside their cards. If you pick your fave shop & get a few, it adds up!0 -
Hi,
I love this thread. I haven't joined in yet as money is tight and I'm doing another challenge shown in my signature.
Still feel motivated by this thread so counted up and I've 33% of my target paid for the 1 debt vs 100 days thread. It makes it more fulfilling to see that's how far I've got.
I think I'll keep posting on what % I've got to as it keeps me inspired.
Thank you Little Miss Uni0 -

#70 - now at 30%! - so pleased, I'll be a third of the way there by the end of the month
Almost at another £50 in paypal too, so that'll be withdrawn after I've paid my fees and popped into my ISA. Feeling pretty pleased with myself so far!
Well done everyone on your %!

Right folks it's official: I am now at 9%! It's not a lot compared with some peeps but as it's basically money I've magicked from 'nowhere', i.e. I didn't think I had this money, I am absolutely chuffed
Makes me think that it could be possible for me to take my family to disney world after all! Thanks again to little miss for starting this thread, and thanks to everyone else for contributing - I love seeing other peoples progress and hearing how you are making your %'s.
Here's to getting to 10% - got stuff to sell on ebay and gumtree over next couple of weeks so hopefully do it that way....1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
MFW 2013 no. 62 £10,000/£10,000

One of my ebay buyers wants to return an item as the person they bought it for doesn't like it. I could not have put any more photos or description into the listing.
I knew when I clicked accept offer that I was just too eager for the cash, had 7 watchers on it. Next time I'm going to go with my gut as I'm normally right with the ones that cause hassle
Apart from that blip, I'm doing good on the cutting back on the spending front so although I'm slow off the starting block it should begin to mount up towards the end of this month and onwards! The debtWILLbegone - taking it 1% at a time

Another 2% in the last two days :j
1% came from the emptying of the remaining change pots as we have reached our Xmas goal now; the other 1% was an anniversary present from MIL (3 years yesterday!)
Grand total now is 8%
I now need to get cracking on listing first 1% pile on ebay and also send books to fatbrain - another 2% hopefully from them

Good Afternoon %ers,
Have a couple of questions today. I noticed on Litle Miss's list that tou can take scrap metal to a yard a get cash for it. Has anyone ever done this or do you know what you should expect to be paid?
Secondly, are there any companies that take drinks cans for cash. I know you can take your cans to MrT recycling centre for points, but id there anywhere else that will buy them?
Lastly, does anyone have any experience selling on eBid?
I asked at a local scrapyard the other day about a radiator I have to get rid of. They said if it's magnetic its probably iron and would buy for 10p a kilo, if it's not magnetic, it may be brass and would be £1.50 per kilo if so.
Therefore it might not be worth the cost of getting it to the yard.Mortgage to clear asap! - [STRIKE]£148,874.38 [/STRIKE]as at 1 May 2013£79,176.55 May 2018£59,516.06 July 2019November 2020 £35,914.620 -

If you'd be taking it to the tip anyway, it's worth it for a few pounds.
I think copper pipes are the big earner, like old boiler parts etc.
Least if you take it to the scrap yard, you know small items are going to be re-used and not go into landfill.0 -
Hi everyone,
£5 under budget for our day out todayVery pleased considering i was £5 over the last day out.
Checked direct debits today to find my gas & elec hasnt come out yet so need to get that paid. Its usually out on 1st of each month, grr extra hassle!
Sold some maternity jeans on Ebay last week, everyone paid bar 1 person, i emailed them twice and they replied yesterday saying they'll pay next week if thats ok! I was like 'umm, no! it is not ok to want to pay 10 days after the auction ends' Going to cancel the transaction and relist a 3 day listing to end Sunday.
