in Credit cards
Just been to log into my Aqua Card and discovered a new website and new range of cards being issued.
Classic, Reward and Advance...........
The Advance card is similar to Cap One Progress card, reduces your APR by 5% per year for 3 years.
What it doesn't tell you is if you can mover from one to another, or hold more than one of their cards at the same time. I am assuming that existing card holders are automatically on the Classic card, they all appear to look the same though.
Also interesting to note they would have appeared not to advertise any of this until the launch. I got my latest statement this morning and there is nothing about on that either.

The reward account looks interesting:

3% cashback on purchases, with a maximum of £100 per year.
This looks like a pretty good deal for low earners/spenders (or indeed anyone, higher spenders just spending the first £3,300 a year on this card, and the rest on a different card).0 -
No foreign currency exchange fees making it free to use abroad sounds very goodDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
-
Sounds as if they're now shooting for the prime market? Bit disappointing if they are, as its one less option for people who need to build/repair credit.Oh, you wee bazza!0
-
Scratch that, just logged on to their site and its clear they're still catering to less credit worthy people.
Am reasonably tempted to apply actually, 3% cashback on purchases would do me perfectly, and if accepted would simply replace my vanquis card. Tempting, very temptingOh, you wee bazza!0 -
Thanks to the OP for the heads up!
None of my other cards have cashback or the zero currency fee so this is worth going for.
Just applied online and got a card with a limit of £250 (I'm sure it said 'around £250').
Not much but I'll start using it as my default card as much as I can (bit limited with the credit limit of course).0 -
What's your credit history and income like, Jemma, if you don't mind me asking? Just want to know really if I have a hope in hell of getting a card with them. I applied a good while ago when they were done by halifax and failed allegedly due to something on call credit, might have been ER status.Oh, you wee bazza!0

I got the same message Jemma-T, it said estimated credit limit. No mention on apr but not fussed as will be paid in full every month.
Be nice to have a card with very good cashback rate for smaller spenders and big bonus with no foreign fees, thanks OP for heads up0 -
I already have their basic card and have just applied for the reducing interest rate card.
I have just got the message:
"Thank you for your recent application for an aqua Credit Card. We're pleased to offer you a credit card with an estimated credit limit of £500."
Lets see what happens0 -
B******S!!!!!
Bouyed by Kyresa already having aqua and zero foreign transaction fees, (as hopefully going away later in the summer) I decided it was worth the search on my file.............
Unfortunately not as they declined me, it said my payment history did not match their criteria. It never ceases to amaze me though how a company can give you a card when you have no history but not when you have 12 months of full payments on time etc on your file. I know it comes down to a lot of other factors as well, available credit to income ratio etc but it still amazes me.
Oh well there we go, not going to dwell on it, just carry on with what I have and keep building it up............0 -
That's weird, sorry to hear you were declined, its never a nice feeling is it. Maybe consider appealing if you think they made a genuine mistake.
One search shouldn't be that bad.. Tbh, I think a lot of people on here overplay the whole "searches on your file" thing.Oh, you wee bazza!0
