Oh I love this thread!!!! I have 2 DD's at 10 & 8 & I swear both are hitting puberty (if they aren't God help me in a few yrs!).
DD1 has a temper (and red hair to match - sorry to all those blessed with beautiful red hair though!!) She hates going to bed, hates getting up, hates what I put on the table, hates everything really! I've heard her calling me a "freak" under her breath to which I errupted & we (well I!) yelled at her saying that words like that are not acceptable in the house.
I basically told her if she doesn't like our rules she can find somewhere else to live. Seemed to do the trick for a few days.......then I remind her again I have rules & why they are there. She's also been grounded & that also works. Both get that treatment & I think that really hurts them cos we live in a very sociable village with lots of children knocking at the door.......and when they do come knockin I feel much better telling the kids "sorry they're not playing today"....kids ask "why?" & I tell them "cos they're been rude to me & its not acceptable in this house"....to which the kids look at me like I have horns on my head!!!!
(((hugs))) to you all who go though the same thing!0 -
