  • I have been constant budget traveller for the past 11 years and I found the searching for a really good hotel deal to most overrun destinations has become almost as time consuming as worthless. A friend of mine who works as an travel agent told me that the search demand online for budget accommodation such as b&b's, hostels and such as well as cheap hotels between 1 and 2 or 3 stars is 9 times as competitive as for example finding cheap flights to exact the same popular destinations. In other words flying there has become super easy over the years but finding a decent place to stay a lot worse. If you think about it, it makes sense somehow. However does that knowledge help me to reduce the effort in finding good hotel deals. Well, I doubt it but a sometimes the best accommodation websites are those with a refined selection rather than those who simple fill their database with all thats out there in terms of hotels, hotels and god knows what else. Fewer options but well reviewed helps to find a decent opinion about a place and speed up your decision making process. - Bob

    Sambee,

I consider myself fortunate financially that I can afford lots of breaks every year, but there are some families or couples desperate for a break that deals like this could be the difference between going on holiday or staying at home. In life i think the majority of people spend their lives at work or thinking about it and thus denying their family or other half the best of themself.

If Easyjet didnt charge over the odds for the majority of their hotels (and i am seeing an average overcharge of £50) they wouldnt have any claims. It would be far cheaper for them to employ a team to check prices constantly (im free if you are reading this easyjethotels!) than to shell out on the claims.

Besides as they are holding masses of money for months on end don't think they arent making a fortune on interest as well.

I booked my deal, before the t&C's changed. i returned from my stay, on the 2nd sep, and my £691 was refunded last week. :j :j

Now my sister who also came on the trip with us, and booked same hotel, dates, etc, also had an e-mail of e/jet stating a full refund. has contacted them, and guess what there saying that she isn't entitled to 1. And that she can have a voucher for 10 % off for when she next books a hotel with them.

So how can they refund me, but not my sister, just fired a letter off to them, including copies of there e-mails agreing to the refund. Also said that if i don't receive an answer within 48 hours, i will be contacting a solicitor, as they are not agreeing to there original t&C's.

My dad said that something would go wrong, and i said that it couldn't, that they had promised the refunds. Wouldn't mind my sister booked 2 rooms so she is expecting. £1 382:huh:

    They're trying it on!

Send them a letter before action, giving them 7 days to return the money to your sister's account or file a claim in the small claims court.

They will either pay or stall, if they stall file the claim adding costs plus interest as in reclaiming bank charges. Date the charges from the original refund date, which if memory serves me correctly was 28 days from check out.

Saint_Chris, don't worry! As Cumbrian Male says, they're trying it on. I had a problem with my final refund a couple of months back but it all got sorted in the end (see THIS post further up this thread).
