proudgecko said:I am considering the HL easy access ISa via Shawbrook as it’s a good rate but there’s two possible downsides I can see, maybe someone can enlighten me on they
1) how long does the money sit in the HL hub not earning interest before getting moved to Shawbrook
2) its not flexible - but if I needed flexibility later, could close and transfer the ISA to a flexible ISA elsewhere ?1. Best ask HL when they will pay interest from. May depend on who the losing organisation is and what ISA transfer process they can accommodate, perhaps even the ISA product(s) you have with the losing organisation(s).2. Yes do a transfer to a flexible ISA; don't close your ISA.Organisations that support electronic ISA transfers can do transfers, in my experience, in as few as two days. And given the dual upcoming events of a budget and December BoE MPC meeting, ask how HL may respond to a drop of 25 basis points (0.25%) in the base rate. Some helpful information on ISA transfers may be here:HTH0 -
Looks like Cynergy and Charter have increased their easy access and fixed cash ISA rates (both had slipped down the 'best buy' tables recently). The new rates are...
Cynergy
EA - 4.20%
1 Year - 4.28%
2 Years - 4.15%
3 Years - 4.15%
Charter
EA - 4.11%
1 Year - 4.24%
2 Years - 4.13%
3 Years - 4.13%9 -
Well spotted, it might encourage others to up their rates.
Press talk is for a cut in December by BoE, so fixing may be a good move.
I'm put off going with Cynergy because of the rigmarole of their bank authenticator app.

I seem to remember using Cynergy's authenticator app in the past but they revamped their online banking site a while ago and these days, despite their FAQs implying that you still need to use it, I log in with a username and password followed by a 6-digit security pin which they send via text message.2010 said:Well spotted, it might encourage others to up their rates.

They've also got a banking app now but I don't use that either, as I don't need regular access to the types of accounts I hold with them.2 -
I concur. Much easier to login now. My ISA transfer from Paragon to Cynergy was trouble free and took around 3 days.refluxer said:

I have just had maturity instructions through from Kent Reliance this weekend for a fixed rate ISA maturing early December.
They are another one of those annoying providers that default to another fix at maturity if no instruction is received.
I also notice that the interest rate on their maturity option 2 year fix is only 3.5%, which is less than the 2 year fix on their website which is currently 3.86%! Not impressed.
Anyway I am transferring to another provider and have just initiated a transfer to Cynergy to take place at maturity. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
Edit to add:
I see that Cynergy also default to another fix at maturity too which is annoying.1
