The Premier ISA (Issue 2) is showing as being unavailable to new investors HERE and was reported as being withdrawn on 7th October by eMoneyfacts HERE - suggest that you ring them to check before posting the form.

Oh drat... I tried to phone them earlier (9.30am), but it was an answer-phone, left a message but not had a response from them!!!!

Oh well, back to searching for the right deal again....
I am looking for a deal...
    - with a Fixed Rate over 6.20% (hopefully!!)
    - Transfer in & Out facilty
    - and nil or minimal cost to withdrawal

The only one I have seen with a rate over 6.20% that is Fixed is... Stroud & Swindon...

Anyone got any other good suggestions...

There are at least 5 fixed rates offering >6.20%, according to Moneyfacts http://www.moneyfacts.co.uk/savings/bestbuys/fixed-rates-isa.aspx

I have a fixed rate ISA with Newcastle BS maturing this month which they've offered to renew automatically at 6.25% fixed until 2010. I'm happy with that rate and it saves me the time and hassle of transferring. Not available to new customers however. Newcastle BS has some good fixed rate ISAs from time to time, but savers need to avoid ever being put on their standard variable ISA which has always been one of the worst accounts on the market.

    Cheers for the link....

A couple of those don't accept transfers in, and a couple have quite long redemption penalties, if you need to withdrawal....

But will be looking at the Scarborough one, good spot.... that was not showing on...

    Thanks..
  • I am trying to get a handle on these ISA's, but a situation came up today which stumped me..

    - I took out my 1st ever ISA last year with NS&i (currently at 4.8%).. The amount was the full £3,000 plus any interest gained so far. I am loking to Transfer this out...
    - I also have a Bradford Bingley ISA running for this years allocation at 6.25% fixed. The amount was for the full £3,600.

The question is.... I want to Transfer the NS&i ISA to Stroud & Swindon, but their Minimum entry is £3,600.
But am I able to add to this ISA, to make it up to £3,600?

I phoned Stroud and Swindon, and they said I should just transfer out an extra £600 from 'this years' ISA with the B&B....

I am Confused, I am not sure this is allowed, plus it will reduce this years ISA by £600!!

Any advice for an easily confused old head (mine!!!)????

No, you have already used this tax year's allowance.

Current tax year's ISA funds can only be transferred whole - no partial transfers are permitted - so S&S are incorrect.

    Cheers Baldur. very helpful.

I thought it was wrong advice. You can see why people get so confused!!!

So my searching is now narrowed even more, now looking for a provider that will accept £3,000 and still pay me 6.20+% fixed for a Year, with minimal withdrawal penalties...

    Cheers for the advice..

Hemel Saint if you are likely to want to withdraw from your ISA within the fixed-rate period you'd be better off going for a good easy access variable rate ISA instead. The loss of interest on fixed rates is usually prohibitive. For Swindon and Stroud, for example, it's 90 days.

The first post of this thread has been updated.

I've only made a small update this week to remove the Manchester BS fixed rate ISA following it's withdrawal from sale. I'll do another update next weekend.
