  • True, that's exactly what I was wondering as it would take a few days/weeks either side!

I am hoping though that soon I could transfer from IceSave to a better paying account, but will have to research further. Icesave have been fine to date.

Have you checked this one out: http://www.natwest.com/personal/savings/g2/isas/cash-isa.ashx#tabs=section2?
    Discussed here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1168679&highlight=natwest

Personally I'm sticking with Icesave for the time being, as I'd have to shift it again in 12 months, and reckon there's too much chance of losing interest due to the transfer times each end. Did your transfer to icesave go as smotthly as mine (less than 2 weeks)? I'm happy with them up to now too.

Century offer 5 savings a/c.s but for interest purposes their A shares a/c. caught my eye. 6.25% gross fixed for 2 or 3 years. On the webpage it states, "All the above accounts can be operated on a Cash ISA basis,"
It is alas for new money only and I am not sure of the implications (if any) of the "A share" designation but it is a mutual :rotfl: (just in case anybody isn't too keen of the best same rate one year fix at B & B)

    (for 16-24s..)

..postal variant of which pays 6.26% pa on £1

    See emoneyfacts

Smart marketing however. Get them 'young' and keep them saving with you for a decent period of time thereafter.

[When is the age-discrimination industry going to catch on this and call for the banning of the provision of these savings products one asks? Is allowing financial institutions to cherry-pick certain age-groups' money in any sense 'necessary'? I don't think so...]

Good product! I agree with you, Milarky, that it's smart marketing. I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed either. There are lots of "silver saver" type products restricted to the elderly, but comparatively little available for the young - and much of that is for children, not 16-24s.
  • I need to make a public apology to Milarky re my post yesterday concerning Century. Just noticed that he had posted same on 25/07/08.
Rather stupidly I did not search the whole thread, just looked at the first post. Amongst other things, I don't want to get a reputation for plagiarism.
    Sorry.
As an aside, they must have raked a few bob in to have dropped the rate by half a percent.

The first post of this thread has been updated to include the new ISAs that have recently been launched.

Most notable offerings are from Natwest (paying £7.32% for balances totalling £27K) and the Royal Bank of Scotland (paying 7.25% for balances of £24K). Both of which include a 2.00% bonus rate payable for 12 months. Manchester Building Society's ISA, paying 6.50% and including a 1.00% bonus payable until 31/10/2009, has also been added.

Further updates will be made next weekend.
