Thanks so much for this list it's a godsend. Now, question -

I have an old Abbey Postal ISA and it's down to about 4.95% now so I think it's worth switching for next tax year.

I'm unsure whether to just get them to "upgrade" me to their Direct ISA (6.25% for 13 months then 5.25) or to switch to the Lloyds one (6.50 for 12 months then what?!) ...

Abbey told me I can go to their Direct ISA with no charge or hassle, but will it be the same if I switch providers altogether? DOes anyone know what will happen to the Llyods one after the year? Back to base rate? I can't see it on their site!

    ANy help appreciated. Thank you.

Perhaps u could ask them and post the answer back here.

I have posted a list of Building Societies that do/dont allow partial transfers in/out on another thread based on peoples experiences and enquiries.

I have just opened the A&L ISA and can confirm from looking at the application form that they do allow partial transfers.

Once April 5th has come and gone you can longer top up the 07/08 ISA, even if you haven't used your £3000 limit. You can only deposit in the 08/09 one.

Meol: I'm pretty sure merlinthehappypig missed out the "NO" from his sentence !

  • Kazza,

National Counties have just launched their Guaranteed ISA 2008/09.

Rate is 6.26%, and details are on their website at https://www.ncbs.co.uk

As with previous years its for new money only, and it guarantees to be 0.4% above the bank rate for the first year.
