Not with me it hasn't, cash is king, perhaps he's abdicated or has gone for his bowl of Kellogs credit crunchies.

applied in branch for my Barclays isa for next year and filled in the relevant forms.
strange that it can only be opened with a cheque or standing order..........has cash gone out of fashion?

This time last year Barclays were insistent on opening deposit being by personal cheque as this is a more reliable form of secondary ID than a utility bill. ;)

You cannot carry forward ISA allowance from "last year". You do not have to be a Barclays customer to open a cash ISA. You and your wife simply fill in a form and can each deposit £3K for this year and then another £3,600 after 5th April.

i'm not sure if this is the same situation as quoted.

i just opened one for 07/08, and planning to open another this april 2008. i only put in 500 for 07/08, can i still max it up to 3k even after april 2008, while at the same time saving for 08/09?

Another poster has posted a belief that Bradford And Bingley are launching a 6.25% Fixed Rate ISA from next friday.

Also worth pointing out that Cheshire BS take the longest to start paying interest on cheque deposits.

    10.0 Cheques
10.1 Cheques will earn interest from the fourth day following the date
the Society receives the cheque. :(

Ive asked Cheshire why they havent adopted "2,6,6" and have received no reply at all. icon_sad.gif

A couple of weeks ago i posted off requests to four Building Societies ( including Cheshire) to make a withdrawal from Regular Savings accounts.

I asked each and every BS to transact and post on the following Monday, three of them did as they were requested, Cheshire transacted and posted on the Tuesday thus guaranteeing itself that it would keep the interest the following weekend. icon_twisted.gif

Once April 5th has come and gone you can longer top up the 07/08 ISA, even if you haven't used your £3000 limit. You can only deposit in the 08/09 one.

Have Cheshire heard of "2,6,6" :D

Just a thought, if anyone was thinking about opening a 08/09 ISA with them, what's the likelyhood that interest would be paid from the 6th if they received the cheque (dated the 2nd) on the 2nd together with the application form dated the 6th ?
As a getout, they would probably say that they couldn't start processing the application until the 6th
I'm peeved because the 6th falls on a Sunday so it's the 7th when I'll open mine. That's another day of tax free interest I've lost.
