On the lump sum, you get interest on all the money for the whole term.
You also need to consider what rate you'll get on that part of the lump sum which you are waiting to invest at monthly intervals.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I have applied to transfer an ISA to the Newcastle BS Celebration ISA (member exclusive) which I was pretty sure offered 3% according to this post on 19/10/13 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4796655)
The account designation in online banking is "NCL CELEBRATION ISA ISSUE 2"
The Newcastle website doesn't include any of the Celebration ISA accounts in its list of interest rates (current or closed) which is weird.
The current issue (Issue 3) is shown with a rate of 3%, and a maturity date of 22/01/2019. http://www.newcastle.co.uk/savings/member-exclusives.aspx
However, the only documentation I can find for issue 2 (via a deep search) shows an interest rate for issue 2 of 2.65% and a maturity date of 23/10/2018 http://www.newcastle.co.uk/downloads/savings/NewcastleCelebrationISA2.pdf
Can anyone confirm what the interest rates really are for the 5 year issues 1 and 2, and where this info can be found on their website? (even google advanced search is stumped:()We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Newcastle BS Celebration ISA Issue 2 is at 3% after all, according to a telephone conversation with them. I've also since found the screen print I made originally, showing the 3% rate.
I have no idea why the the deep-linked pdf shows 2.65%.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Hopefully with the end of Funding For Lending for Mortgages this ISA season might see some decent rates. I was only really saved by the Nationwide Flexclusive ISA mistake which meant a very nice rate of 4.25% until October but since then mine has been at 2.5% with a provisionally opened ISA back in April at Santander.0

Opened one of these in branch early Friday afternoon - popped in on the off chance & it took all of 5 minutes, if that (although I did have all the correct ID & knew that I wanted to open the a/c so that must have cut down on the waffle).
My passbook came in the post this morning (sat) - much better than the "you need to ring this number to make an 45 minute appointment to open the account, but we don't have a slot at a time that suits you for 3 weeks, & yes, even though you're an existing customer with active accounts & have been for over 7 years we'll still need to see all your documents again, & yes, we will keep you waiting for at least 15 minutes before we even acknowledge your existence as we're such a popular branch" brigade.
Anybody care to guess which bank I could be talking about? And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
Sounds like a Halifax "Spam Your Customer" appointment.illegitimi non carborundum0

I remember my 1st bank appointment,I made to discuss my pension options.as I sat down with girl, another bank employee entered the room, two against one,he proceeded to say don't worry about pension it's far off,we have some good loan deals we can offer you as a valuable customer,45 mins later I said I needed time to think.
