Cash ISAs: The Best Currently Available List

My wife has 3 fixed ISAs maturing early in December - I am appalled to see that to get 3%+ we have got to tie the money up for another 5 years!
I'm actually tempted to convert one or more to a S + S ISA especially if the Americans don't sort themselves out - could be a very good time to get back into shares if the market bombs!0 -
I've transferred all my maturing cash ISAs into shares. Plenty of blue chips paying 5%. For example
Admiral
Cable & Wireless
Chesnara
Resolution
Scottish & Southern
National Grid
ICAP
Shell
BP
KCOM Group plc
United Utilities0 -
Has anyone opened one of these? I'm thinking of transferring my 1st direct when the rate drops to 2% in November, WB website says apply in branch (no branch near me), but the app pack says you can apply by post, just wondered if anyone had applied by post.0

I haven't opened one of these but, looking at their website, they provide a button labelled "APPLY IN BRANCH" so that you can access their branch finder in case you want to apply in branch.
I would say that if the app pack says you can apply by post then you don't have to go to a branch to apply.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

The above ISA has now been withdrawn (yesterday).0

Tesco IA 2% ISA isn't showing on their website today - just a FR ISA at 1.5%.And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0

But unlike a Cash ISA which is gauranteed for 100% of £85k; you could lose everything you invest in a S&S ISA.
They are very different and not suited to everybody. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Does anyone have a copy of the pdf application form that they could upload somewhere and post a link?
Is it worth a "late" application? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Well yes, if Morrisson's, Sainsbury's Tesco, Shell, BP, and the other 27 companies I've invested in all go bust, then I could lose all my money, (Although to be honest, I may be more worried about where to buy food and petrol!), but I'm not losing any sleep over it!! In fact so far, having bought most of my portfolio last year when shares were cheap, I've seen the value increase by 16% and I'm getting net dividends of just over 5% pa.
Very different to a savings account, I agree.0 -
I'm sure that shareholders in Woolworths, Comet, Zavvi, Blockbusters, Jessops, HMV, JJB Sports, Game, Focus DIY, and Habitat were equally confident when those companies were doing well!
Anyway this is quite off topic now, but we both agree that Cash and S&S ISAs are different. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
