For the Cheshire one, does a transfer of a pre-existing ISA count towards the minimum £1,000 opening balance?

Yes. A transferred-in ISA is part of the new ISA's balance.

As I am and have been for some time, looking for decent ISA rate for new tax year the following interest's me somewhat.....
    Regular Savings Cash ISAs:

Nottingham BS Starter ISA (issue 3) - 4.00% NEW with effect from 06/04/2013
    Minimum operating deposit: £10. Min - Max monthly deposit: £0 - £480.
    Operated via: Branch.
Notes: Transfers in not accepted. Withdrawals not permitted. Must be opened in branch only. ISA matures on 05/04/2014.
**Further info will be added following the launch of this ISA.**

However, I can't seem to find this account on their website and I was also wondering if this was fixed or variable as thread doesn't advise........?

The Nottingham building society regular saver ISA has not been launched yet. It will be available from Saturday (06/04/2013). I will add further information once the ISA has been uploaded to their website.

Well I had hoped to take advantage of this but factoring in a trip from Windsor to Nottingham rather defeats the object!

    Cheers

I went into a branch to open mine last year, but others were successful in getting one opened by post. Online operation not possible, but you can make payments by standing order and therefore it is possible to vary the amounts. They also let you top up to the full amount at the end of the tax year, if you've only been making smaller payments up to that point. There are some more details in this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3893373

Just re-quoting the info about the Nottingham Regular Saver ISA, to highlight that postal opening might be possible, based on some customers' experience with last year's equivalent product.

    Santander 2.80% 2-year ISA:

Does anyone know how to open this ISA for 2013/14? There's no option on the application and if you put £5760 in the funding box, it won't accept it. I have a 2012/13 ISA fully funded with new money already, so don't want to open a 12/13. I'd like to fund it with a transfer from a maturing old one plus the 2013/14 limit on 6th April.

Phoned the number but closed as holiday.

    Any help much appreciated/

New Tax Year doesn't start until Saturday 6th April 2013, therefore they will not/can't open an ISA beforehand as then it would be for tax year ending in 2 days (hurry up!)
Like, you I'm also raring to go with new ISA but cant find anywhere with semi decent rate :( and this year's ISA rate drops in May so I'm in a catch 22!

    So here's my catch 22!
    Any advice much appreciated....
Firstly, I CANNOT lock away any of MY CASH SAVING for longer than 12/15 months!
    I already have an Barclay's CASH ISA for 2011/12 with £5,747 @ 3.01% NET until 30/5/13.
As I am on a bit of a mission (with saving), I already have £2300 for 2013/14 CASH ISA and intend to max out my ISA ASAP ........ hold that thought!

Now, the only CASH ISA I've seen with a half worthy interest rate is as follows:

Santander Direct ISA Saver (issue 1) - 2.50%
Rate guarantee? No. Rate effective from: 01/01/2013.
Minimum deposit: £2,500+. Operated via: Branch, Internet or Post.
Important: The advertised rate is available for the first 12 months and then reverts to a variable rate, currently paying 0.50%.

What I can't seem to fathom (playing the waiting game even for 3 days is a bit much right now, I haven't filled an ISA for over 6 months!) is if this or any other ISA that accepts Transfers IN, does that mean that's not part of my new allowance from today + 3 days???

Can I start adding NEW money from 06/04???

I've heard/read a lot of bad deals with ISA transfers (I used to withdraw it for holidays, driving lessons, car, insurance etc after final interest payment at end of tax year).............If it is that slow?
Would I be safe opening this account now and not putting any money in for 3 days? <sighs>
    Regards

    MissyD, I would suggest:
    • Open the account on Saturday (but do check to see if anything better has come along - some providers will bring out new accounts for the new tax year)
    • Pay in what you have from your 2013/14 allowance now
    • Fill in a transfer form for Santander, to transfer your Barclays ISA across. You will have the option for the transfer to take place immediately, or on a specified date in the future - you can choose for it to take place on 31 May

You don't seem to have any ISA savings paid in for 12/13 tax year so you should open the Santander immediately and if possible fund it with £2500 then you can add in next years allowance even if it is in dribs and drabs and also transfer in your Barclays ISA on the 30 May 2013.

Sorry, my Barclay's ISA is from last year, 2012/13, but I maxed it last year within a few month's of opening so feels like year before!:shocked::shocked:
