Cash ISAs: The Best Currently Available List

it is probably unlikely ... that there will be anything else available that is better (or significantly better) between Feb and April ...
Does anyone have any comments/suggestions in this regard please?
I'm hoping that someone will launch an attractive account in March linked to your also depositing your 13-14 allowance in April. But the way to bet is probably to take the Coventry account while it is on offer.Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
I recently came across the above account online which is currently paying 3.25% (including 0.5% first year bonus), guaranteed until the end of this tax year, and it can be opened with a minimum of £1. I will be receiving proceeds from an endowment policy next February and was wondering whether to invest a very small amount into this account now and then top it up with the rest of my yearly cash ISA allowance in February or wait until February (March or April) to see if another cash ISA with a better rate is available at that time and, if so, open that one instead. If I wait until February, though, and there is nothing better than 3.25% around, the Coventry account may no longer be available to new investors or the rate may have reduced, so I will have lost out.

I've been thinking about your question. The 3.25% rate is only guaranteed until 05/04/2013 (and the 0.5% inclusive bonus is paid for the first year that the account is open.)
Though, I do agree with you that the first option is the best one. If you open the account now you will secure the 3.25% rate until at least the end of the tax year. As competition is fierce in the ISAs market in March/April, it is less likely that Coventry would reduce their rate at that time. If you opened the account now, your bonus rate of 0.50% would run until mid-October next year.
Of course, if a better ISA (which accepts transfers in) became available, you could give the 60 days' notice required and request a transfer. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
It appears that the Yorkshire BS fixed ISA at 3.2% until 31/05/2014 has been withdrawn.
As at 23rd Oct, there is now a fixed to 31/10/15 at 3%.
Not such a good rate for a longer period.

Halifax ISA changes (rates down)
Just noticed they are now offering "a great rate" of 3.20% for 5 years on their ISA Fixed Rate Saver (was 3.55%). The other fixed term rates have also gone down.0 -

The Virgin ISA rates have dropped, down to 2.40%. Glad, I stuck with my old Northern Rock issue!0

I can't see my money staying with NR/Virgin unless they pull something out of the bag as a retention sweetener (3.3%+ so not much hope). Waiting for the paperwork for mine which matures in 4 weeks.0

My NR/Virgin also matures in a few weeks. Luckily I also had take out the 3.7% Lloyds 2 year fixed rate ISA which allows transfers during the 2 year term so you can guess where my NR/Virgin Isa is going !!0
