Also in the T&C is that you have 30 days after it matures to access the money with no penalty. After that period the 30 day notice kicks in.
Breaker, Stepped and Fixed Rate Cash ISA

At the end of the fixed rate term your account will become a 30 Day Cash ISA and will earn a variable rate of interest equivalent to that payable on our 30 Day Cash ISA (excluding any introductory bonus applicable at the time). For the first 30 days after the end of the fixed rate term you will have access to your funds. After this, you can withdraw your money without charge as long as you give 30 days' notice.

Read that and thought that would apply but was told differently over the phone. I think that provision is for moving to one of their own products.
    Might be worth a shot....

My understanding was that it allows me to move the money out of NR after the fixed period or into another NR account if their rates are still good with no penalty for 30 days which seems reasonable enough to me.

The next time I am passing the branch that I set it up in I will ask.

From what's left of the longer term fixed rate ISA's, there isn't anything amazing anymore, even for 5 years you can only get 4.3% I think it is.

Personally I think that the 3yr Nationwide fix for 4% is a good deal, why would you fix for 2 years more just to get 0.3% more

KTF, you were right. Transferred out without any penalty. I must have misunderstood.

    Thanks buddy.

  • Hello All, I'm yet to invest in this year's cash isa and will appreciate some suggestions for a high interest isa preferably for 1 yr. I also have an old isa with Halifax which has now come to term and dropped to .01% so I need to move that too.
The best halifax is giving me is 2.6% and stander 2.7%
    Thank you.

Post Office 1year fixed rate 3.0%, allows transfers of £500 or over, but not covered by the compensation scheme.
For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.
