Oh I see thankyou, am I right in understanding this means if funds are transferred from such as the ing isa to halifax isa those funds wont be counted in the £3600 years allowance? I don't have hardly any in mine but my daughter has a bit in her ing isa so she could transfer hers. I thought I had put funds into it anyway just £10 each account just to keep the bank feed active, I will have to check on that.

I do think ing are for a limited time offering the 12 month guarantee although it doesnt say it on the main page its if you click for more information, its a short term offer
    Thanx

The 12 month fix relates to the bonus of 1.47%, not the underlying variable interest rate of 1.49% - it's an old marketing ploy to make people think that things are fixed, when they actually aren't.

Oh arent they crafty with the fix thing!

My daughter did put £1 into her ing isa from 2 feeder accounts on 23rd Jan 2009 so thats within the last year but possibly it wasnt enough to keep the isa open for deposits. She only did this to keep the feeder accounts working as they stop them if they arent used for 13 months. I cant check mine as I've forgotten my pin and have been locked out now, I cant call till tomorrow
    Thanx

£1 is still £1. If you have funded an ISA account, even with just £1, then it remains valid for future deposits in the following tax year.

Rang them up to unlock my account and at the same time asked about the ing isa having deposits stopped on both mine and my daughters and the man confirmed it was all of ing isa's that the company had decided to do this across the board and give members the oportunity to open the new isa with them at higher interest rate. He said the old isa would remain open to gain interest or the money can be taken out but no further deposits possible

I really don't know why you are bothering with ING, I would strongly suggest that you and your daughter select a decent ISA provider that accepts ISA transfers, complete their transfer form and let them transfer your Cash ISAs from ING.

I've set up the halifax direct reward isa, I did it over the phone rather than online because they can then transfer money today but if I did it myself online I would have to wait for the paperwork to come and sign it and return it before I can fund it.

Daughter will probably choose the same one she has funds to transfer, I didn't.

I know its not fantastic interest but its better than some and at least fixed for the year plus we both have current accounts with halifax so it is easier to set up. Next year I will make a point of looking early and getting a better rate if there is any by then. I just had so much else going off to be able to concentrate on sorting out an isa at the start of the tax year. Never mind you live and learn :)

Thankyou everyone for the advice this is a really helpfull thread and great first post :)
    Thanx

even though you have deposited 1k, you can move it all somewhere else and then carry on contributing till you reach the year's maximum...
