Except in the post I was replying to, the poster was talking about a situation where their ISA was maxed out and wanted their interest to be compounded within the ISA. Withdrawing from flexible ISA would not be the work around they wanted in that scenario.

There appears to be a practical addition to the bit about withdrawing previous years money and returning it to the same account, in that if that account was then closed you can open a new one with the same bank to replace the money. I was allowed to do this recently so I hope it is true but I've never seen anyone in discussion say it.

Barclays and Shawbrook are two other ISA providers who allow you to pay in throughout the duration of the fixed rate period.

In all three cases, deposits are limited to new subscriptions only so you can't transfer-in beyond the initial window (I don't have all the terms to hand but this is typically 2-4 weeks and can occasionally be 'at the time of application only').

Shawbrook's T&C's do suggest the possibility of being able to transfer-in at a later stage (they state something along the lines of 'future requests may be refused') and there have been reports of this being allowed in the past but, unsurprisingly, since interest rates have been falling, requests are now being refused. (I know someone personally who had a transfer-in request refused midway through their fixed rate period this time last year).

I have a note that Bath BS previously allowed additional deposits into their fixed term Cash ISAs but on looking at their current offerings no deposits are allowed 14 days after account opening.

A few bits of info about the Prosper Cash ISA, gleaned from a phone call this morning:

    • if you forget to enter the PROSPERCASH code when opening the account to get £100 after six months if you maintain >£10,000, you can add it later (though pref before funding an account) through Explore on the app or their phone support
    • if you add £10,000, you receive the 1.82% boost into your nominated account even if your balance falls below £10,000
    • the 1.82% boost is promotional and so not taxable.

Yep, i've had confirmation from Prosper that you can do both.

They don't allow ISA transfers in though.

Check where the cashback gets paid into and how it's treated, as that will determine how it's handled for tax purposes.

Hi, yes I had already checked that, the cashback is paid in to your HSBC Bank Account, by 30th September 2026. Still a reasonable deal, even though the cashback is paid outside of ISA status.

Its still a 4% big name Fixed rate ISA with £250 free cash thrown in, winner in my book.

It's a better deal if you are only adding 20k.

With the cashback, equivalent to approx 4.75%, if my maths are right.
