Cash ISAs: The Best Currently Available List

"A flexible ISA is a cash ISA that gives you more freedom with your savings. if your circumstances change, it allows you take money out and put it back in — without affecting your annual ISA allowance, as long as it’s done within the same tax year and replaced back into the same account."

You can replace current year's subscriptions in any other ISA
As long as you withdraw from a flexible ISA, you can now re-deposit current tax-year subscriptions in the same or any other ISA (flexible or not) and it won't count towards your £20,000 annual limit.
And:
1.3 Flexible Individual Savings Account
This change clarifies that funds subscribed in a tax year which are subsequently withdrawn from a flexible account, should reduce the total value of current year subscriptions to the account, and may be subscribed to any other Individual Savings Account in that same year.

What is your source for that? It goes against my understanding of ISAs and contradicts the Nottingham BS explanation of "replaced back into the same account."

Unhelpful to post incorrect "advice", even if it did come from a Building Society (who should know better).

Two sources I provided are MSE and Gov.uk
The rule about replacing to the same account changed in July 2025.

This was changed last year. A link to the HMRC newsletter has already been provided.
Flexible ISAs - you can withdraw current years contribution and replace back, within the same year, into any ISA. If you withdraw previous year's contribution then that has to be replaced back into the same account (within the same year of withdrawal).
These rules were updated presumably to simplify things once people were allowed to own multiple ISA as flexible ISAs only report the net contributions.
Nottingham BS clearly haven't updated their site to reflect this change.

Thanks for the correction/update. I guess I was typing while others of you were posting the HMRC etc. source.

So now that we've clarified that (and thanks again), does anyone know whether Tembo and/or Prosper action withdrawals immediately? Tembo's site says they can take up to two days.

Did a withdrawal from a Tembo cash ISA last week - in my current account next day.
