I have my appointment letter for my 20 week scan here and it says:

"Please do not bring children under 10 as we cannot be responsible for their safety. Please make alternative arrangements for childcare."

I took my daughter to my 20 week scan she walked in all excited to see the baby and the sonographer made her leave so I had to go in alone whilst DH sat in the waiting room with her. She was crying and I was very angry and upset.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

i have my 20 week scan on Friday, i took my daughter to my 20 week one in my last pregnancy, the hospital didnt mind, but as it is quite a detailed scan and takes about 30 mins she got bored and started moaning, so i was glad for it to end, she wont be coming to this one :)
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

If they won't allow him in, or perhaps in any event, have you thought about taking him to a midwife appt or even getting a home doppler so he can hear the baby's heartbeat? It would be interesting for him to hear how fast it is compared to mummy's or even his!

Did you check with the hospital beforehand that you could take children into the room with you?

If not then I don't think you have reason to be angry at the hospital.

lala why don't you call the hospital and see what their policy is? At my hospital it says that children aren't allowed, but as you can see from the variety of responses on here, they do vary.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I suppose they'd let you in if you were a 13 year old lad who'd knocked up his 12 year old girlfriend... :D

Its a lovely idea but even if he's allowed in, he may get quite bored waiting around beforehand, and during the scan as it takes a while for them to do the measurements. I also agree that you have to bear in mind the chance of bad news - hope of course this isnt the case. if he's 6 presumably he will be at school anyway?

assuming all is well, suggest you give him a scan photo to take to Show and Tell at school - all his little classmates will be fascinated!

With my dd with took my sdd and she was 3. With my ds we took my dd who was 2. Both times i asked the midwife first. Both times they waited outside with my hubby whilst the detailed bit/measuring was happening and then they were allowed in once the major things were checked. I also had a scan at 36 weeks with my ds (query breech, so no issues) and my dd was allowed in for the whole scan.
I think it's brilliant for them to be allowed to see it but i would check. I know when i went for my 12 week scan with my dd she was EVIL and theres no way she would have said yes. But with my ds my dd came in for the 12 week scan. Good luck
    Congrats

I went to Stepping Hill in Stockport and took my 4 year old, they were happy to let her in. We were in there for over half an hour and she did start to get bored.

She did want to see it, so we decided to take her.
