Best of luck for your weight-in Rachie.

I've been quite good since the chocolate incident. However, I've just had a rogue piece of toast. Spag bol for supper tonight with loads and loads of veggies in to bulk it all out! I call that healthy (sort of), but it was made with very lean beef mince from the local butcher, so I can feel good about supporting local businesses. (honest)

Going for a curry tomorrow night as some friends are over for the weekend. I'll check that WW points thing and see what I'm "allowed". Probably best starve myself during the day too!

I LOST 2LBs on my "faddy diet"!! Hooray!! (low calorie beer!)

    How you doing?

    Everyone else???

Goodness, after a year of using these forums I have finally found the thread for weight loss! Can I join you? I had a depressing sort through my wardrobe today and found lots of clothes that don't fit. I have put on about a stone over the last year and would really welcome some friendly support in loosing weight.

I've only just joined the thread too but most people here are really friendly it seems and give good advice!! Soon you will be sorting through your wardrobe and finding even more clothes that dont fit - but that will only be cos you are too skinny for them :)

Haven't weighed myself recently. Will do Saturday morning (post curry, is it wise?). Actually, having said that, I'll weigh myself tomorrow (Friday). Wish me luck. I've been quite good, like I said before, but there's always that nagging doubt!

Oooooh, come on in. I think we all need support and this looks like a fab place as any, doesn't it. For me, it's an excuse to just spend even MORE time on MSE too (after fitting in the healthy eating and exercise, obviously!).

I've made myself quite a yummy packed lunch for tomorrow that I'm quite proud of: chicken sandwich (ok, not fantastic, but tasty), low fat yoghurt, carrot sticks and apricots. I'll also take another apple with me for luck/mid-morning snack.

Blimey goindoin that was a long sentance!! Sorry I've just looked back and it was three sentances but I must have forgot to breath at the right places!

I think what you are saying is very sensible advice and practically sounds exactly what they say in the weight watchers books. You are right losing weight is all about the attitude that you take to food and mindset and I've never wanted to go to weight watchers before due to its cost but to be honest some things in life aren't quite as easy as they seem and I have found the guidance and regular weigh in system a boost to my motivation so I'm going to stick with it thank-you. I don't have a gym membership, nor a dog and I can't really go on the bus with two tiny children to get my shopping etc or go to work via the childminders, it would take me hours! oh and i dont eat read meat or even white meat as it comes to it.... I take it that you don't have much problem with your weight (and by that I mean that you need to lose 3 stone or over)? or possibly you've never had kids? I dont know, I'm only sumising, just like you were when you came on here putting down the methods we have chosen to lose weight. If you dont want to lose weight and dont want to be supportive then why have you posted?? Sorry, you have upset me slightly. Lecture over. :(
    Hi Rachie77,
I'm really sorry you took offense to my post. It wasn't meant to put down anyone, just what has worked for me.

I don't have a major problem with my weight because I have more or less lived by the methods I listed. But like everyone else I have had a bit of excess weight during times of stress or depression, and in order to shift it rapidly, have tried several techniques eg counting every calorie or removing certain food groups from my diet. I lost the weight but felt unhealthy, and it all came back.

So for me it's all about a healthy lifestyle rather than yo-yo-ing.

Good luck with your program, I hope it works out for you.

    P.S. 7 sentences. Better?

thanks goindoin, that kind of explains it to me slightly better, i guess it could have been the words 'lecture over' that made me feel like you were having a go, your latest post seems much more helpful.

It is easy once you have lived by these methods to sustain a healthy lifestyle but if things have slipped and you need to shift a substantial amount of weight (i think i need to lose about 3 stone - very scary!!) then sometimes you need some help getting back on the straight and narrow....

I don't believe in starving yourself or some of the bizaree diets that exist but have found that weight watchers supports healthy living and excercise (which I already knew) but gives me the support, motivation and reams of information that I need right now.

It also means that by parting with cold hard cash that I have signed up to a commitment to succeed, my partner can see that I am serious and I am less likely to sucumb to temptation (which was my weakness in the past!)

Its one of the hardest things to do (lose weight) as its not just losing the weight its the psychological issues that go with it! I can see it all black and white its just doing it that is sometimes the problem!

With two children under 18 months old I sometimes get little time for myself and have to 'fit in' around others and tight budgets so right now I'm kind of juggling lots of priorities but trying desperatley to succeed!

Not sure i'm doing any yo-yo-ing but making I can work that in to my excercise routine ;)

thanks for taking the time to reply

I was in such a rush to leave the house this morning that I forgot to weigh myself. So, it'll have to be tomorrow morning post curry (hangs head in shame).

    Thansk for the welcome Rachie77.
I have made a good start with a couple of days of sensible eating and long walks. Though I always find day three hardest if I diet. I think my body suddenly realises it is on a diet!

Weighed two days ago and was 10 stone 1lb. This is heavy for me as I am only 5'3''. I have gone up a clothes size over the last year and want to get the weight back down.

Just weighed myself (last night being curry night) and............... the scales must be dodgy because I'm now 12st 4lbs, whereas last Sunday (pre-curry) I was 12st 6lbs! I'm so pleased. Ok, so it's only 2lbs lost, but it all counts.

Next week I'm going to be house and dog sitting for my parents, which will mean the dog needing taking for a walk. Perfect excuse!

I'm only an inch taller than you and I'd love to be 10stone 1lb! I guess if you have always been a bit smaller then you will notice the change so its good that you are doing something now!! Wish I had done something about it years ago to be honest... :D good luck! x
