Hi Laura,
I weigh about the same as you (same height as well). I've already lost over a stone on the Slimming World way of eating (2lbs a week) ... don't like to call it a diet, as you can eat so much on it!
I'm semi-vegetarian, eat meat occasionally and lots of fish. If you enjoy Quorn (as I do), you'd probably find S/World really easy to follow. I've not actually joined, but have "acquired" the books from a friend and done it myself, but I know lots of people would rather attend a class, of which there are many about.
Don't know if you know much about S/World, but there are lots of "free" foods on a veggie (green) day, including most veg, fruit, Quorn, rice and pasta and you need never go hungry.
If you visit their web site, it gives you sample recipes and explains the principles, though you can't actually purchase the "syn" books unless you join online. You're allowed 10 - 15 syns a day (I stick to 10) and there's very little weighing.
The site is : http://www.slimming-world.co.uk/
Personally, I love pasta, bread and potatoes far too much to go on any sort of low-carb diet. Also, the majority of the people I know who have tried a high protein/Atkins type diet have put the weight straight back on when they've come off it.
Anway, good luck with whatever you decide to go with and let me know if you want any further into.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
If anyone wants to use the websit for slimmers world online the password for the next seven days is vitamin.
If you go online there are new recipes etc and it will really help give you ideas and motivate you.
Good luck.
I have lost 2 and a half stone but am sticking and cannot get round to losing more. Not their fault - mine."This site is addictive!"

Hi elona,
Had a look at the S/W web site and can only see the Members Login where a password is required (and vitamin doesn't work here). Can you please explain where you insert his password.
Thanks.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -

I will certainly take a look, I would rather still be able to eat lots of what I like....and I love quorn and still lose weight, otherwise I know I would last 2 minutes and would feel depraved....lol
I think you can only really go on low carb diets when you eat meat and fish anyway, as a veggie I would be very limited on ehat I could eat!
I will let you know how I get on.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Im just about to start the diet 'you are what you eat'! a friend recommended it cos she lost 10llbs in a few weeks on it! I have been on a diet for 6 weeks and coming up to the stone mark! So am really happy, done by eating my main meal at lunchtime and soup for tea! Havent done much exercise but did walk the 45minutes to work and back everyday! now i have my boyfriends work party coming up in 3 weeks and need to shift half a stone (ihave 1 stone to my target) so im hoping this detox diet will be the one to help me!! has anybody tried 'you are what you eat'?
Thanks

Article in The Metro (my free commuter paper) today about getting enough sleep being a help to losing weight. Apparently when we're asleep we produce some chemical or other which stops us feeling hungry and if we're lying awake we're apt to go and raid the fridge. I plead not guilty to the latter but I have noticed that if I haven't slept well I do want to nibble gorge on chocolate all next day.
This would explain a lot about my weight gain! Although not why I lost a lot of weight when I was profoundly depressed and lying awake worrying about my finals. ;DSignature removed for peace of mind0 -
Alot of asda 2 for a £5 chicken meals are good for atkins - relatively low carb!0

Hi
Can you tell me a bit about this please? I've got a couple of nights out coming up, unfortunately too soon to get more than a couple of lb off, but I don't even want to go out so I've decided I MUST lose some weight cos it's affecting my social life! I don't want to go out and feel like a frump and there's all these young girls with nice figures! I love to get all the new fashion stuff as it comes out but I can't wear much of it now. It's also affecting my sex life as I don't feel good about myself at all.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
AAAhhhhhh .... where have I been
Putting on a couple of pounds ... that's what >:( hihi ;D
I have been being really bad ::) I guess I let it go to my head when people said that I had lost a lot of weight, so thought, well that's enough isn't it ??? But NO, I am not at my target yetso I am going to keep going ;D
What upset me most was a nasty comment I got from a "friend" about my weight lossI hadn't seen her for a while (about 10 months and breifly one othertime, but we were both wrapped up in big coats and scarfs lol), and before she came down, she told me she had lost some weight. So, when I first saw her I said, wow, yeah you have lost weight, well done, you look great! Actually, I think she had actually put on at least 20lbs, but I didn't want to be mean
We were getting ready to go out and off I went to get out of my 'baggy cosy fleeces' ;D, came out and she said 'oh, looks like someones trying to be a skinny girl then hey!' I was a bit confused at first and said "huh?". Look at you she said, so you've lost weight then hey? what have you been doing, starving yourself just to get skinny? Ohhhh, I was fuming and wasn't about to have a go at her, my Mum told me never to make guests feel uncomfortable in your home ::) Then she went on about eating properly (her, queen of instant food ::) preaching to ME about eating properly) etc etc and why was I tring to be a 'skinny' person "you're not gonna get all superficial on us now are you, how are you going to be able to look after your children if you don't eat?' she said
So, I just said, "so, all those years I knew you before when you were VERY slim, were you superficial then??? and I am looking after my girls just fine thanks, wonder how long you can cope with them today ;D" needless to say the rest of the day was very difficult, she even had the audacity (is that how it's spelt!) to go up to my other half and say "what do you think about her loosing weight? Is she trying to impress someone else? or did you want her to lose it? If I were you I'd find out exactly why she is starving herself and keep an eye on her"
Anyone else experienced this meaness ??? or is it just me :-/
Anyway, I have a brand new start, brand new target which is ...... 10lbs by the end of the year ;D
Sooo many new names here .... Hiya to you all :-* And well done to you all tooAnd crickey Shaz
that is a big drop, but I am so glad that you are better now :-* Hope you are back to your energetic self soon too :-* enjoy your holiday (you're flying off today aren't you ???) and enjoy your new wardrobe shopping too :-* :-*
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0
