Are they writing to customers and telling them what the increase will be? This is the first I hae heard of it, and I am fed up with not having anything to watch as someone else has pointed out.
However if the DH doesn't have access to the new series of Walking Dead on FX there will be hell to pay :rotfl:I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

All you people says "it was to be expected" blaa blaa and "they can do it" are speaking rubbish... YOU might have seen it coming because you've been with them years; but as a new subscriber who's been with sky for 8months, to have a price increase is outrageous!
It certainly wasn't mentioned when i took the contract!
If they wanted me to return to VM at in a few months, this is the right way of securing it!

Has anyone read the contract? The contract is for SERVICE alone - it has nothing to do with the tariff (which is dynamic and alterable on being given notice). It is a common misconception that contract = fixed price, but t doesn't.
True, years ago Sky voluntarily excluded new customers from any increase until the anniversary of their signing, but this had nothing to do with 'having to' more simply goodwill and being 'reasonable'. Since their competitors don't do this, they joined the party - so the deal is now you'll be hit with any unavoidable service increases, BUT if said increases mean your liability is now (or will be) 10% or more than when you joined, you should be given the opportunity of a no-fault cancellation within 30 days of bring advised of an increase.0 -

Call them up and have a moan. They may discount you.

We only signed up at the end of June and we have had our bill raised by £4.50 since then!
The internet is slow and I'm not too pleased! Is there any way round this?

I suspect lots of people have. But not all of them will post their experience on here.
However you don't have the bargaining tool of an out of fixed term contract. So they might resist.0 -

This is true! We signed up and the first we hear of price rises is when they are due to come out of your bank!
If you have Sky, you listen to their updates on price and it is to be expected! It was never mentioned at the time of taking up the contract, and it was one of the questions I asked when signing up!0 -
It wasn't mentioned when I took out my account 4 years ago either, yet here I am getting a £2.50 price rise.
They write clauses into their contracts that allow them to vary the price. If you don't agree with these terms you shouldn't be signing up for the service. The advisers on the phone don't have the time to read out the small print, it is your responsibility to make sure you have read and understand them.
Price rises are a fact of life, they are happening in every industry. Either suck it up or move you business elsewhere. it's not rocket science.0 -
hummmm sounds like sky online advisers leading people astray i must admit it took two attempts to get info the first adviser was far from helpful and asked for my account details i stopped her in her tracks like i'm going to give confidential information over an isp live chat I THINK NOT mind you big company like that don't want you to know until the last minuet :mad:
I'm pretty sure Liveperson chat IS secure. Besides, what did you want the advisor to do? They have to access your account details in order to help you further!0
