Yes - it was a con/lie (depending on your outlook)
BTfon is only available to Tmobile users - if the home user allows it and their router is switched on
(BTFon & BTopenzone is not one and the same thing)

BTfon (business) IS available but for me - there are 3 within 5 miles - so totally useless
So - although they do quote that there are several hundred thousand WiFi hotspots available - that may be true - but how many BT home users are going to leave their routers running 24/7 and how many have changed the default settings to allow "strangers" full access ?
I gave up trying and decided instead to use WiFi at home for loading new apps......
  • Thanks for the reply.

Needless to say t-mobile support hasn't called me back, but after trying again to login, btopenzone explained why I can't login.

When I opened Dolphin browser on my phone, I got a web page where I had a link "Login with my UK mobile provider". On the next page I was given an option to select my network. After selecting t-mobile, I was told that the wifi node I was trying to log in to didn't support t-mobile. On the same page they stated that I'm not allowed use home or business btopenzone hubs and I'm only allowed to use premium btopenzone hubs. Checking out their website, I've found out that the premium hubs are: Thistle, Hilton and Macdonald hotels
Starbucks, coffee shops, railway stations and shopping areas
conference centres, exhibition venues and law courts
airport lounges and terminals such as Etihad Airways, American Airlines and Flybe
Roadchef and Welcome Break motorway service stations.

But most people leave routers on 24/7 anyway.

    No they don't !!
  • Only premium hotspots will work. E.g. starbucks. Any other hotspots will not. Even if tmobile wifi app picks it up and tries to connect. Not worth the effort.
