Tmobile / BT hotspots

So all these claims by Tmobile to offer free WiFi to not only shoppers but home use as well are a load of bunkum ?
I don't know, I do know that BTFON is based upon 'you show me your's and I will show you mine' as in you allow others to use a small section of your BB in exchange to being able to use theirs, that's why I was surprised when you mentioned you had a great speed as it is usually capped to about 512mb/s0 -
So what are these BT Fon hotspots ?
Are they linked to private individuals or are they businesses ?
All that I know is that (as BTOpemzone) - they appear to be either normal strength signals within a few hundred yards of my house or super strength signals from perhaps 1/2 mile away - I should wander around the area with my phone - trying to pin it down to a particular source .....0 -

BTFON hot spots are domestic dwellings using btinternetwith a wireless router, at one point the user had to opt in, but now they have to opt out.
I'm surprised with all the viewings of the thread NOT ONE other is able to offer any input
You can't be the only one on T Mobile here .0 -
Tmobile - claim to allow access to 200,000 WiFi hotspots in the UK
- How do they come up with a figure as high as this - without including BT Fon and BT Openzone-H ?
Looking at their hotspot map (BT Openzone-B) - there are fewer than 2000 throughout the whole country .....0 -
I use the BT openzone a lot via my laptop, if the router in the house or business is not active, you can log in you will not get on the net.
I find about 1/3 of the time this is the case, I was informed they are the older routers that did not opt in, so they as users don't allow access but also don't get access.
This can clearly be seen when you use a laptop as it will show it can connect but no internet.
Can say though its still a worth while deal, and will only grow as the older routers get replaced with new ones you have to opt out.
Its not as if it cost the user anything.:money:0 -

So you are saying that people are opting out of leaving their routers connected 24/7 (using their electricity) and even those that do leave them on are blocking others from using them
How Dare They ?
You say "log in but not get on the net"
I get the opposite - not logging in and getting on the net (BT Openzones homepage but no browsing away from that page)0 -
Yesterday - I received an email from BT WiFi section :
As a T-Mobile customer you have access to all premium BT Openzone hotspots . These can be found at places such as cafes , railways and hotels. You can check your nearest hotspot by going to www.btopenzone.com and clicking on find a hotspot. I'm afraid your mobile provider does not give you access to BT FON hotspots or residential BT Openzone signals as part of your contract. In order to log on a premium hotspot, you need to connect the device wirelessly to BT openzone , then launch the internet. This will take you to a log on page where you will see the option to select T-Mobile as your provider and log in with your username and password. You can not use the T-Mobile wireless app to do this as BT Openzone is a different network.
So how can tmobile claim to allow access to 200,000 BT Hot spots ?
There are no more than 2,000 available hot spots if what BT say - is true
BT asked me to ask tmobile to phone them to discuss
Guess what - tmobile have not phoned yet !!0 -

BT hotspots called BT FON are not accessible to tmobile - nor are BT Openzone H - So how many BT Openzone-B hotspots are there around the country ?
200,000 ?
According to tmobile - there must be - since they claim to allow access to 200,000 hotspots .....0 -
Hey Twinkle
how're doing?
I know it's been a while since your last post, but I'm having the same problem. I'm a t-mobile subscriber who's trying to log onto btopenzone without success. I have a username and password, which by the way I've reset 3 times by sending SMS to 9526 with the word password.
I have BTOpenzone-B and BTWiFi networks nearby and can't use either. I get connected, but when I try to access any site I get the btopenzone page. I try typing my phone no as the username and password I got from the SMS, but it's not recognised. I've tried my number as 447572... and as 07572... without success.
I've called t-mobile support and after more than half an hour on the phone I was given a BT supprot number to call. I've called the number and an automatic message says the number isn't in use. Called again t-mobile and after another 35 minutes on the phone I was told they'd call me back tomorrow with a new number.
My phone is Motorola Razr-i.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.0
