I have a nationwide mortgage and current account and have never had a problem with the internal transfer.

Its not that I don't trust them, its that I would then actually have to make sure the money was in my nationwide account and in time. Rather than just cut and run!

Is the transfer of mortgage payment optional on the form?

    Is optional.

Also can confirm them saying can transfer existing Flexaccounts as long as transfer DD and SO.

So have I, this is my main bank account. However I am in the process of switching to Halifax for the £100 and better interest rates. If I now try to switch this account to a new Flexaccount won't this really confuse things!?!

PS: Also I applied for the Halifax offer on the day of closing but have not seen any mention of the £100 on any paperwork sent to me.

I also have a dormat Barclays account that I could get going again and set up a few STO's and DD's. Would this be more suitable for the 'transfer' of new Flexaccount?

I kind of agree! I am very loyal to Nationwide and have all my savings, mortgage and current account there. And I'll get Salmon n Trout for my troubles!

Seems to go against their pee-take of other banks- the "Sorry, brand new customers only!" ads.

Ah...But it's not brand new customers only...You have to have been a 'member' for 6 months. More of a "Sorry, existings customers without DDs/SOs only' :rotfl:

Thanks to the OP for the heads up on this. I'm in the process of switching my main bank account to Halifax, but have set up a standing order on a mainly dormant account to take advantage of this too! I was planning to open a FlexAccount for the fee free cash overseas in time for my summer hols, so this is great timing.
  • Thankyou so much op i have applied. After wathcing the Whistleblower programme last night re Barclays i have decided to switch and i already have accounts with Nationwide. So i qualify.

It's more than an "impression" now. They have written to me confirming what I proposed (in my earlier post) will definitely meet the conditions for the £100 switching incentive.

    This is so easy. :D

So easy infact, that if Martin puts this deal in the weekly e-mail, I expect Nationwide to terminate this particular 'offer' very quickly.

Hi, I just thought I would mention my experience, not wanting to contradict what you have been told but...

My girlfriend went into Nationwide on wednesday to get this £100 using her dormant flexaccount, and filled in the switching form etc, and all was good.

I went in yesterday (friday) and as soon as I said I wanted to use my exisitng 'dormant' flexaccount the bank person said he wasnt sure if that was allowed. He rang up head office to check, and told me that in order to qualify for the free £100 I HAD to open a brand new flexaccount to go alongside my existing one. When I mentioned my girlfriend had come in a few days earlier and set up the switching process using her current 'dormant' flex account, he got a bit confused and spend 20 minutes talking to the branch manger and phoning up head office, and they confirmed that you definately had to open up a brand new flex account to qualify for the free £100. So he had to phone up and cancel my girlfriends DD transfer which had been posted on wednesday, becuase it was using a current flexaccount she already had, and so he said she would not get the free £100. So she is currently down there as I speak setting up a 'new' flexaccount to go alongside the one she aleady has!

It all sound really stupid and a lot of extra work for no benefit to Nationwide! Anyway I thought I would mention it, because from what I have been told, if you have applied for this switching process using an existing flexaccount, then you will NOT qualify for the free £100...

At least Nationwide don't charge for having an account with them. With Barclays i pay a fee each month.

I have been thinking of switching my current account to Nationwide for sometime now as i have other accounts there, the whistleblower programme gave me the kick i needed.
