Its not that for me....its more convenience. I put bread on at night when it's cheap rate power and theres fresh bread ready in the morning. Also, most breadmakers do other things as well, like jam. Once you get the hang of it though, no need to send out for Dominos, home made pizza is far and away better than bought versions.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
Meet my best friend : YNAB (you need a budget)

Well just did the snowball calculator and apprently it is going to take 73 months to pay back our debt :eek::eek::eek::eek: paying over £10k in interest!!!!!!!!! If I can get a job and pay mbna out of redundancy then the overall interest paid falls to £6k. Don't know what I was expecting really but still a bit of a shocker
Also, not convinced all my APR's are correct as just checked paperwork and there are effective rates and simple rates and all sorts!
Firewyrm I'm off to find the scissors after that.Congratulations on the overdrafts, bet it feels lovely
. So nice to see your wages go in and not get swallowed up straight away!
Can't remember when the phone contract started but it was an 18m one so don't think it'll be up yet. Another one to check.
Found a breadmaker for sale in the evening paper but thought twice about phoning as it's £20....kneading by hand it is then. Can't believe how seriously I am taking the situation this time. Usually I'd be straight round to the cookshop perusing the all singing all dancing models :rotfl:Home made pizza is the best!!
P.s how dwould I know if I get economy 7 cheap electicity rates at night? Sounds good to me![STRIKE]£49,129[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£[/STRIKE][STRIKE]43,012 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£42,209[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£40,823[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£39,866[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£25,960[/STRIKE]£21,338 _party_

 i know what you mean, the snowball calculator made me  now i'm determined to reduce the date
I *believe* and i'm sure someone will correct if i'm wrongthat economy 7 is like storage heaters rather than having radiators? so it's a different boiler? might be wrong though....
Well done on all the achievements so far :TDEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
If you are on an economy 7 tariff it would say on your bill. I was looking on eon the other day and I think it said that you qualify for it if you use more than 40% of your power overnight. I'm not sure if this 40% is an eon figure or industry wide so it's perhaps worth speaking to your energy provider to find out your options and how it all works.
Well done on your hard work squidgy. You're doing really well! Get that bag sent back asap. Also, check out my sig for how my snowball dfd has changed. And that's just with claiming PPI and ebay sales. You can change that figure when you put your mind to it and it's so satisfying when you shave another month off that date.

:hello:MD, and congratulations on your awesome progress! I hope we can reduce our DFD too. hey what does the part in brackets mean on your signature? I've decided I am going to aim for 38 months. Not to be totally debt free but to have just the one loan left at £213 p.m which would be manageable. I am starting to actually believe this is do-able!!!![STRIKE]£49,129[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£[/STRIKE][STRIKE]43,012 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£42,209[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£40,823[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£39,866[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£25,960[/STRIKE]£21,338 _party_

Hi, can't remember if you're still on a contract for mobiles, if not look at giffgaff (owned by O2). Really cheap bundles. Tesco seem cheap too. I started an expensive 2 year contract last october, one of the things I feel most stupid about!
O2 have really good deals this month for their 12 month simplicity sim cards (£10.50 for 800mins, unlimited texts and 100mb data)
BTW, if you really can't be out and about and not buy clothes, return them the next dayWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I'm hoping by keeping a record I will stay motivated that we are making progress. It's going to be a loooong road.
- Cut up credit cards. Made me  a little as they are such a security blanket (albeit one that tries to strangle you when you're not looking :rotfl:)
- Another NSD! Yippeee! Went to the supermarket with DM for a few essentials and she took pity on us (she is aware of the situation but thinks we owe probably £30k) and paid for our shopping of fruit, yoghurt and milk saving us a fiver. Not a long term solution but will do for today. That's 3 in a row now, hope I don't fall off the wagon!
- Sorted out a heap of stuff for sundays car boot
- Found out mobile phone contract ends in June...2013 so that's £41pm we're saddled with til then but hey ho we'll just have to cut back elsewhere. Thanks for the suggestion though!
- Got frezer and storecupboard inventory up and running
- Found the dog food heaps cheaper online so will be ordering some of that out of the grocery budget.

The reason you need to have 40% (in reality it's usually more) of your electricity use overnight for E7 is that the penalty for cheap overnight electricity is that what you use in the daytime is more expensive than normal.
Therefore if you only use a small or moderate amount overnight, E7 could actually cost you more than you are paying now. Realistically, if you don't have electric storage heaters, E7 is useless, since the majority of electricity use is daytime (usually 7am-11pm).
Even using appliances like washing machines overnight won't help, as one wash typically will only use 1 unit or less.0
