I wouldn't say "unreasonable" but as a good MSE'er I wouldn't be buying used baby clothing for £2.79 P&P + winning bid when I can get a brand new pack of tops from ASDA/Tesco/Primark for £3.

I agree. With High street prices so low I am very careful not to go silly when bidding on clothing from ebay as it is often cheaper to buy brand new elsewhere. If I do sell clothes (and I've really only sold new ones with labels)then I try and skim post and packing to a minimum, preferably keeping single items at around the £1.50 - £1.60 mark wherever possible, using plastic mailing bags and second class post. I probably wouldn't bid on a single t shirt type item with post and packing over £2, and probably even less for a baby or child item. I'm not saying that p and p is unreasonable, just not competitive.

What was the cost of the item before p&p.

    Just under £10
I do hope you're telling the truth?
  • Surely you could roughly guess that the item wasn't going to be £5 to send if it actually only cost 50p! It must have been a small/light item. And I can't see anything wrong with homemade envelopes as long as the item inside is secure and protected.

The item appeared so much bigger on the picture - it was just some card making materials but it was a joke when it arrived and I had paid £5 for some cut up bits of paper - what a fool - once and never again. I will cut up my own paper from here on in.
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016
  • YAWN....

What will it take for these numpties to get it into their thick heads that if you don't like the costs and/or T&Cs of the item you want to buy then DON'T BUY IT! What is the point of buying it and then complaining? What do you expect the seller to do? Say "oh I'm sorry, yes you're right, I just wrote my costs and T&Cs in big clear letters simply for the fun of it!! Here, have £5 back because I'm a nice guy!".

If you're still not happy how about telling the buyer that your item did not turn up and ask for the tracking number? Give them a while to sweat about it then say its just turned up. That way I believe you're not guilty of fraud but what we call "fibbing" which carries a much lighter sentence;)
I know its childish but if it makes you feel better then maybe its worth doing.
I can see why you are not too happy if you thought you were getting more than you did but as the sellers on here point out you did agree to pay the p&p.

Claim not to have recieved it, that will be the sellers fault for not sending it recorded like you paid for

I did that some months ago, because I was aggravated that I had paid for the item to be sent by recorded delivery but it wasn't. When the seller asked if I had received the goods, I replied no. She responded by saying she had the tracking number and would take it up with the Post Office. I still had the packaging, and when I looked at it again, I could see evidence of a recorded delivery label, which had in fact been removed by the postman, because he was too lazy to get a signature! I reported this to the local sorting office, and the manager came down to pick up the evidence, and I believe the postman responsible was disciplined.

This may or may not have happened in this case, but I am just giving an alternative view.

That is a very interesting one. Having re-checked my jiffy bag I think this has happened to me too! The PO will most certainly be receiving a complaint once I receive the tracking number, that's really poor. I have a lift in my apartment block so it's not even as though the postie has to climb stairs to get a signature.

Exactly, you've hit the nail on the head. Although more along the lines of 'fair enough, please don't report me for fee avoidance, I realise I haven't listed P&P according to Ebay's T&C'.

Thanks for the contribution, you really should get some sleep though, you sound tired.:D

I can see why you were miffed but the issue is with the items not being as you expected. The seller is obviously mis-representing their item in a round about way. Had they been the size/quantity you presumed they would be then I guess you would have been happy:undecided .
