Quick Q; I am allowed to dispose of a solitary Bonne Maman jam jar, aren't I? Even if it has a pretty red and white gingham lid?
Of course! (thinks of the 7 on the shelf in the hallway destined for button sorting purposes:o) Hey, was that from the 3 fruit marmalade bought at the 99p shop?:D

We are doing relly well.
We got out the duvet I find too heavy too nights ago and ...it has a little mould on it. I find I am delighted to get rid of it! It's leaving us with two pillows that have seen better days.
How long are pillows meant to last? Mine never seem to last long, and then I feel disinclined to buy 'good' ones when this is the case, or would 'good ones' last longer?
We are sorting stuff for another tip run tomorrow morning. It feels so ....enthusing.0 -

We bought memory foam ones with their own zip off stretchy towelling covers, which slide nicely into a pillow case. They were £20 each but we have had them 5 years now and they are as good as the day we bought them. They did take a bit of getting used to at first , I don't know how long they will last but on current conditions I would like to think maybe forever and I am not sure I will ever need to replace them. They do seem to be money well spent for usDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -
Happy Dragon here! 8 pairs of boots and shoes, 6 polo shirts, a zip up light fleece and a tablecloth with matching napkins have all left the building to go into the Sally Army clothing/fabric collection point at the end of the village :j:j:jDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

We have one memory foam pillow which I use. Parent bought it and hates it and will not use it, neither will dh.
I find it ok, but..:o. I don't like the funny shape.....it's for sleeping on the side I think.
ATM I feel the urge to replace everything past it's best and not decent quality so the duvet issue keeps resurfacing. I dislike our cheapy and hated the feather one, and want to try silk, but cannot afford not to like it, indeed, I would have to love it, and they look so thin and frankly a bit mean.....but if they are light and super warm.....0 -
Can you borrow a silk duvet to test LiR?
I find memory foam pillows soften over time and become less supportive, so I use feather ones. Some are ancient and thin, some newer and fat, and we just use various combinations depending on whether we are sleeping or reading in bed. I do wash them all at least once a year, which probably shortens their life but also kills dust mites.0 -
I tended to replace cheap pillows every year to eighteen months - but, seeing as I reply on one of those foam moulded neck pillows now, and that cost a lot (well, a lot to me), I've actually had that for - gasp - four years
I hadn't realised just how long it's been in service - that's a mark of quality, I think, as I haven't felt the urge to replace it at all.
I think, if the pillow keels over in half when you hold it up, it's stuffed. A lot of the cheaper ones do that from the outset. And there are only so many you can donate to felines.
I braved the shops this afternoon and picked up a cheap present for MIL - a beige slanket thingy, but because I think she might actually like it, and benefit from having it, not for the sake of having something.
But I'm not feeling Christmassy. It's just a chore. There's no family to shop for, no family to spend time with, I'm not remotely religious, certainly not patient or kind enough to countenance working in a homelessness shelter, it's just not particularly relevant to me, outside it being winter.
So I came home and I'm sitting on the sofa with the idiot cat curled up against my legs, a pork hock stuffed into the slow cooker at a strange angle (that was entertaining, trying to work out what to do with it) and a cuppa.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Oh jojo, if you were closer you would be so welcome here for some mulled wine, animal cuddling and music playing.
.
Hmm, otoh, I wonder if I can declutter my family off to anyone else....:)0 -
Big hugs Blossomhill, that's horrible and must have been a real shock.

No, I don't know any one with a silk one.
In reviews people who love them rave...but it's the same with lots of things. E.g. I hate my slowcooker and most oldstylers love them!0
