The 9th square is about those little puzzles where you slide the tiles around to make up a picture, the 9th square is the free square i.e the bit of space you have to move the junk to when yo're clearing. I think.
We don't have a snow shovel but after a few questions from MIL recently I think DH's great aunt is buying us one for Christmas. Not that we get much snow but it'll be useful if we ever do get some.
Ditched a few things I've been hanging on to today and threw a couple of towels away that could have been cut up for rags or could have been kept for decorating but we don't need them so out they went.0 -

Jo-Jo, Hope your DD's BF is definitely gone, understand how you feel. Although I have to say, you don't sound old enough to have a DD at uni! Hope that comes out right...
Had her when I was 19. Was a bit of a shock to the system  especially as my plan was to go to university, but her father was quite like her boyfriend and couldn't stand the idea of me being anywhere other than at his side all day every day.
I breathed a sigh of relief when she got to 19 years and 3 months because it meant she wasn't going to be a teenage mum, and didn't dare believe she'd made it away from him for a second until she had been at University for more than a fortnight. Strange how they split up after she'd been out of his reach for just 6 weeks. anyone would think she'd had a taste of freedom and liked it
He doesn't appear to be a happy bunny online, going by his facebook comments when I stalked him.:D:D:D:beer::D:D:D

Anyhow, Schadenfreude aside, Old Cat lives to grumble another day - her meds have been upped as she's lost some weight, and back again in another month. She's feasted on [STRIKE]my dinner[/STRIKE] some steak mince and is currently snoring in the basket beside the radiator as, despite a vest, t-shirt, short sleeved jumper and a cardie, I was cold and the cats all looked hunched up and sad.
So I've given up, conceded defeat and turned it to 18 for an hour. It was apparently 11 degrees according to the thermostat, which seems awfully cold considering it's indoors, no windows are open and the place is fully insulated.
Hope everybody else is keeping warm!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
So pleased to hear your DD has managed to declutter the bf.
It's really cold here. The heating is on and I am not ashamed to say it! DH went out to the tyre place this morning (luckily they could fix the problem and we didn't need a new tyre ) and it was 1 degree according to the car thermometer. Feels really icy out now so we're tucked up. Tonight I'm going to be quilting which is an excellent way to keep warm, I can't believe I'm actually going to finish it in the same year I started it, unless something hideous happens in the next 4 days. I just have the back of the binding to stitch on. Maybe I can get over my horrible habit of not finishing anything I start.0 -
Am planning a chill out night - making fake takeaway (sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, beef and prawn red curries egg fried rice - guess we'll be having it for lunch tomorrow too!) then film, bottle of wine and an early night to recharge.
Tomorrow it's clean the ducks out, go and pick up the 4x4, get it MOT'd, pop into town whilst that is going on and avoid spending or buying too much .
The rest of the weekend will be spent blitzing the house from top to bottom before the estate agent inspection on Monday. Feel a lot better after getting so much tidied and sorted earlier in the week - am looking forward to a clean and tidy house - just hope she doesn't want to look in the larder or the wood shed
Hope you all have a productive weekend and if you see me hanging out here for too long, kick my butt!0 -
There's good stuff happening to us, isn't there?
Byatt, I feel so proud of you for being able to invite someone into your home. It wasn't so very long ago that you posted about having to even meet your friend elsewhere for coffee because you were too ashamed to have her, wasn't it? It's an awesome progression and I hope you're giving yourself credit where credit's due.
thriftwizard, love the transformation of your understair area into a home office. Stunning. I like the way you've covered the magazine holders with the matching wallpaper. With that pic and your bedroom makeover, it's obvious that you have a real flair for interior decor.
I've been pottering about through my week, mostly just working my job and convalescing afterwards for a few hours but I am trying to retrain myself to be less untidy.
Yestereve, I had to break off reading a book as there wasn't time to finish and get to bed at a reasonable hour so what I did was to gently wander around returning this thingy and that thingy to their homes. I sort of wafted rather than told myself I was tidying up. Then I did the dishes and it was sooo much nicer in my tiny kitchen this morning as a result.
I must waft more frequently.
Interesting posts about stockpiled cosmetics and other smellies. I never wear makeup and have a very streamlined regime for personal grooming so few products are involved and that suits me very well, but it seems from other people's homes that the Runaway Toiletry Train is going full-steam all over the place.
I'm trying to discipline my mind so that when I think I want something, I will first look to see if I have it already/ have something close enough to suffice/ have the makings of it. And all that before I wander shopwards and winch open my wallet. It's truly-amazing what you can utilise if you try.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thrift I just love the understairs transform. I am so in awe of what you have done there.

Totally agree - missed this when I viewed on my Blackberry but looks fantastic!
Also Byatt - well done, amazing progress0 -
Doesn't half term come round quickly.
Got the dishwasher on and washing in the machine. Have had one knock at the door, texts and answerphone messages already today (usually very quiet as I like to keep weekends free from hassle).
Am doing some work this morning. It is deadlined but also will be able to tidy/sort as we go along so it would count as decluttering but is unlikely to reduce in amount.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
It's all a bit of a blur to me this year, there's been nothing to differentiate between schools in or schools out.
Doesn't even feel like Halloween's nearly here, but there are plenty of fancy dress pub and club dos this weekend. I might have to miss those, though.
Ah well, this was the New Year for some cultures - I can see why, all the stuff from Summer going and getting ready for the cold.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
