I've just put a new cardie I bought in June in the CS bag - it was a mistake - I just don't love it or feel great in it. So I've decided rather than hang onto it for x yrs feeling I 'should' wear it or it's a waste of money, it can go right now and make someone elses day.
I've got a large lidded wicker basket that is storing my summer cloths and a smaller open wicker basket with winter clothes I want to keep but don't anticipating wearing this winter...mmmm there are 7 things left in there: my goal over the next week is to empty it completely, but that will take a bit of an extra 'letting go' effort.

I've set myself a new challenge to stop our sofa being the sofa of doom - I always dump stuff on it ( to sort/put away 'later')and it looks a mess (we don't want to sit on it very often, so it's the visual aspect that is the problem).
So tonight I have cleared it again, shook out the soft dark purple massive fleece that covered it and tucked a turkish ornate throw around the seat cushions (along unused gift) that gives a nice contrast and drssesthe sofa up a bit.
Biggest suprise is that Mr BB spontaneously said, ooh, that looks nice (not a chap given to noticing let alone appreciating decorative features:D)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Love the description "sofa of doom"! I think I have the seats of doom out in the conservatory; the very last remnants of my Ghastly Piles (mostly saleable books) have taken up residence on the two chairs at the end, pending some space out in my "stock" shed. I meant to do more boot sales & craft fairs etc. than I actually did do this summer, so haven't shifted as much as I'd hoped. On the other hand I've got much more done in the house than I'd have expected, so it's all good!

Had a "go" at the kitchen cupboards earlier. I thought I was pretty much on top of what was in there... hmmm, maybe not! There wasn't anything out of date that hasn't come recently from AF, but there were so many open & split packs of pasta that we'd have been eating macaroni cheese for 6 weeks if I hadn't cracked & thrown most of it out. And as for the crumbled poppadums... anyway I have now installed the Lakeland shelves & wish I'd bought twice as many; it's improved the organisation & the visibilty enormously.

Off to bed now, to gaze at 30 boxes of football programmes & wonder how I'm going to tackle that little hoard. He always says he's going to put them on Ebay; I have offered to help, but somehow it never quite happens.

  • Back from work, knackered - but today threw up 2 bin bags for chazza shoppe and I'm really enjoying sorting bedroom! I have another whole storage bag of stuff for eBay :) I aim to get that on and therefore out ASAP. It's lovely to know where all my NICE clothes that I actually like are and when i went to work I could find my trousers, blouse, vest to go under sheer blouse, pants and bra immediately without having to sift through piles of carp. My maxi dresses are up the top of wardrobe as I don't think I'll be wearing them for a few months!!
I am really inspired to carry on and have a lovely restful bedroom, ready for the new windows to be fitted next month

Cosmetics hoarding- wouldnt it be lovely if we had a swapshop :) !!

Oh pleaseeeeee don't talk about bedrooms. I have got it in my head that I should do our bedroom as a surprise for DH. And I'm finding it hard to shake the idea but I have been inspired by thrift's makeover. Apart from the fact that I can't afford new carpet (and it won't work without), it's too big a job to do without DH's knowledge.

On another topic, have you been reading seven-day-weekend's Birth Mother thread?

You got those too! :rotfl: I don't even eat the things, yet somehow thought getting 6 packs was a good idea. No more AF for me. :o

I got poppadoms too - quite a lot of them :o

Wonder if I can smash them up and use as breadcrumb topping or I could just wait till next time I see YS dip and use it that way. Going to start to use up the couscous by stir frying small amounts of veg and adding it to make a posh lunch.

Still delighted with the jars of white wine sauce (got lots) and DH looked reproachful until he realised it makes a great pie filling mixed with chicken and mushrooms. DD came home the other weekend and raved about the stuff I gave her last time as they make a sausage pasta with it and get through it quickly. Must see if they have noodles for stir fry again as I have nearly used up the ones I got for about ten pence a bag and resent paying a pound for it.

DH emptied the cupboard under the sink yesterday as he wanted to check the pipes and I found things I did not realise I had like steel scourers and bleach tablets etc. The bleach tablets are now in a small glass lidded jar and labelled and everything else is sorted and tidy and either in a plastic box ready to go back under sink or else put away in garage.

I have lentils that were not being used up but now have found a spicy soup recipe all the family love so that is being dealt with. The batter mix is in huge plastic jar and is being used for yorkies, pancakes and general things like thickening sauces. I used up some small jars to put different stock cubes in so I can find them easily and aim to eventually get everything I can into clear jars (ones I already have or ones that have had coffee etc in them so free). Once things are in jars rather than packets spilling all over the place it looks so much better and takes up less space as well as being easier to find what I want.
