Hoarding...not just on TV

I once saw a run over hedgehog that had been flattened from the nose into an almost perfect cone, except that its innards had come out last. Very Damien Hirst. It would have been a very quick demise.
Well, I am still sorting thro work paperwork. Finding out copies of stuff that should have been sent off to various third parties, so am getting that done (no one chased me, but I figure it's to my benefit because if I lose my copy - which of course I won't with my hoarding tendencies - at least I may be able to get another copy).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Just quickly popping my head in to say hello.
Our house currently looks like a bomb has hit it, DH and his dad are doing a car boot on sunday and I am currently sorting and pricing boxes of junk from the loft.
My sister did the same car boot last week and sold lots of stuff as buyers were very plentiful, so I see it as a good oppotunity to get rid of DDs old clothes and toys.
Dh took pictures of loft so that I could see how bad it was (I cant get up the ladder!) and I must admit I was shocked at how bad it was:o, its literally piled to the rafters.
Another 4 items sold on ebay yesterday and I have put another 5 items on.
I'm gradually getting there, slowly but surely. My goal is that I want most of the clutter gone by Christmas... also to lose 1 stone in weight would be a bonus!Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Thanks BH, I'll do a search.
I tidied the car via the kitchen...0 -
I can barely belive it but OH has joined in. He's only interested in his corner of the study of course but that's fine, it's not somewhere I would go anyway. He's cleaned and dusted several shelves worth of boxes of toy soldiers, come up with two big boxes worth for Ebay, found some more he'd forgotten he owned and has got rid of a binbag full of crud of various sorts. Also he came through with two huge carrier bags of bank and Visa statements and offered DD £5 to take them all out the envelopes and shred the statement parts for my compost bins. So now I have three binbags of shredded paper for composting. Some of these statements dated back to 1999!
And on the home front I finished DS's room just in time for him to come home, unpack his suitcase all over the floor and collapse on the bed to sleep the jetlag off. But he approves thank goodness so that's one room at least that's had a deep down sortout.Val.0 -
Hello all! Well I had good news this week - I went to see my consultant and I am no longer in the metho club!! I am free! I'm just hoping I can remain in remission. I definitely feel more energised and my headache has gone but I'm VERY dizzy!!! I hope it shall pass
Had a little housework row with husband creature yesterday which meant I've spent all day cleaning and I must admit it's nice to be sat here in a clean tidy room! However he is refusing to put up my power plate until I sort the middle room(aka room of doom) so I'm going to do that in a minute (fast!) as I desperate to defat by vibrating!!!
3 bags here to go to le olde charidee shoppe! And hopefully more by next week. Feeling very motivated- let's hope it lasts. De-richarded a dog bed and some saucepans today - should have seen the dogs face! I think he thought he was off too lol!Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

shredded the old love letters ... should have done that on a sunny day ... "love is forever" (warning, interest rates can go down!)You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

Huge improvement in the gunge department. Having a lot less dishes and pots and pans etc, means I have less to wash up, obvious when it's written down, but so much simpler and quicker in reality. Still a work in progress though, but at least 2 rooms are taking shape now.
BH, I got rid of my old love letters some years ago, ex was in the army so a lot of letter writing. Glad I did, because I couldn't bear to read the carp now. His carp not mine of course.0 -
Evening all.
Glad to hear everyone's news and impressed with OHs coming onboard with the decluttering.
I'm still pootling around with baby steps but called my Dad from whom I'd borrowed a book (I knew he'd read it already as we'd discussed it) and asked if he wanted it back or could I add it to the c.s. donation bag? Exit one paperback, stage left.
I've had a day of being shattered and ratty without even PMT to blame it on. Perhaps I'm under the weather as it has been raining all blessed day and was nearly dark outside by 4 pm..... yeuch.
Have decided to buy a new pillow and even went into a department store after work which was a mistake as I was too ratty to tolerate being around people and had to leave and take my ratty-self back home. Will try tomorrow when I am hopefully fit to appear amongst my fellow citizens. And the knackered pillow will exit immedidately.
I find I'm getting twitchy about having stuff around now and want to get it out to the bins or to the c.s. asap.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Car loaded up for trip to see family tomorrow - got some new saucepans to bring back but then chucking old ones out so not a net increase
!
Also taking a couple of cases of tinned cat food to my sister as out of 4 cats, none of them will eat tinned food now, fussy boogers! OH is adamant they will eat it so we should hold on to it. So have taken the tins out of the wood shed which he doesn't know are there :rotfl:
Am away all weekend so not much chance for decluttering but a much needed break and chance to catch up with the family :T0 -
Still probs getting online - I managed via history but not the usual route - so if you can't log on today, we feel your frustration (and those who write post and then it crashes, been there!) ... but here are a few little jobs you can do to make good use of the time ... where shall I start? Oh you know what needs doing ...!
katep23 - I stuck it out to get my 3 back onto tinned food, even though they had other ideas, have you seen the price difference per kg eek! Have a lovely day with family, lucky you!You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
