Okay, it's in the bin. And I dropped some potato peelings on it in case I changed my mind.:A
Cut the power lead off. That solves any potential rescue plans.
I put stuff on the garden wall out the front. It's gone so quickly, I never have time to regret it - the best one was an oven, it went by the time I had shut the front door and sat back down again.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I wish I had this issue. I read, a lot and quickly. E.g. When we used to go on weekend breaks we would buy four books, we would be doing stuff....I would still usually be twiddling thumbs on train home or re reading.
Of course, very little stays in my head, but i totally immerse myself and almost inhale books.0 -

Do you read the new books instead of the unread ones already there? (can apply to other products)‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

For a couple of years I had a large box of books on the floor of my very small sitting-room (at 9 x 12 feet by far the biggest room in the flat). It was piled about a foot deep above the top and was a running gag with family and friends.
It was caused by my habit of buying books in charity shops (one particular den of temptation was selling paperbacks at 35p each). I'm a voracious reader but even I can shop faster than I can read.:rotfl:And yes, the newest ones DO get read FIRST!
I read through it and have now formed the habit of limiting my purchases to stuff not in the library or something I figure is a "keeper". My books live on a 3 foot wide shelf.
I have a charity shop bag on the go at all times now and when I finish a book, I quickly check online to see what they go for (Brother is an online bookseller but stuff that sells for 0.62 plus P&P isn't worth his time) and 9/10 the book can go straight into the c.s. bag. And two have gone today.............
I find it so liberating to be able to read-and-release.
 OK, does anyone know if thre is likely to be a market for old SLR film cameras? I have one, I don't use it, I won't use it, I guilt-trip about it (18th burthday pressie from parents) and I wonder if there's anyone who still wants this kind of good quality 35mm camera? Anyone had recent experience of trying to offload similar? It was a great bit of kit but I guess we're all digital now........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

If I have loved a novel, I cannot get rid of it straight away. It has to live near me for a while as part of the joy of the experience. Fortunately I don't read loads..think I have manged 6 this year so far.:DI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Thousands of the beggars and I don't have to dust anything up there. My perfect world would be to move into a stock room at the library.:D
I don't usually have to season books but some other stuff on the way out may have to be parked on the side whilst I get accustomed to the idea of it departing. Funny ole things us human beans.
Thanks for the camera info.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Went to hospital to visit DD tonight to see her clutching a discharge note and to find out she could have come home earlier today if somebody had told us!!!
Anyway- she is home and had a shower and changed into clean pjs and in bed. Evening meds have been given with a special hot choc drink to follow and nurse will be here tomorrow for daily injections.
She seems happy to be home and will let her have time and space and not pressure her but just hope the after care is in place for her so she is looked after properly in a way her parents and family cannot.
Feel much happier now she is home but don't want to do the wrong thing and hinder her healing."This site is addictive!"

Elona, that's such good news! I am sure she will come along in leaps and bounds now. Have the hospital given you anymore news? Do you know what you're dealing with now? xxx0

Well, that's potentially more useful than keeping a borked toaster.
BUT - most items have moulded plugs these days, so no plug to keep. And the fuse - you have tons already. You only need one if something goes bang. and it'll never be the one you have stashed in the kitchen drawer.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
