Bought a new toaster today. The old one still works but it came from my mum's house, it's scuffed and shabby, it burns 90% of what you put in it and...well, Tesco is having a mega clear out of their stock rooms and while I was looking through the shelves one of the staff came out with four toasters of different designs, all marked down by 80%. One of which was a stainless steel long slot toaster and just what I wanted. For £7.:T
So far so good but what do I do with the old toaster? As I said it's a shabby old object but it does still work, sort of. I did think about putting it in DS's uni box but tbh, I don't want to inflict it on him. But it still works......
Tell me I'm allowed to just throw it out?
I know it's gone now, Val, but if it burnt 90% of what you put in, was it really working anyway?Went to hospital to visit DD tonight to see her clutching a discharge note and to find out she could have come home earlier today if somebody had told us!!!
Anyway- she is home and had a shower and changed into clean pjs and in bed. Evening meds have been given with a special hot choc drink to follow and nurse will be here tomorrow for daily injections.
She seems happy to be home and will let her have time and space and not pressure her but just hope the after care is in place for her so she is looked after properly in a way her parents and family cannot.
Feel much happier now she is home but don't want to do the wrong thing and hinder her healing.
Really pleased she's home!If I do that I'll probably keep the plug.......:o
....and the fuse....!!!!!! it, I should have taken the fuse out!!!
Resist! The fuses are not needed, nor the plugs...! (Hmm, I think I should weed the toolbox for fuses and plugs that Errant Husband collected as it's hard to find the things I do want to find in there...:o)0 -
Phew! I finally got to the end of the thread. You lot might be decluttering your houses but you aren't drecluttering your posts!:D
Well I am another with chronic pain/disability. I am on long term sick from work. 2 yrs next month since I was last at work.
I've been gradually decluttering while I read with loads going on ebay (including DHs "thin" clothes) and loads going to the charity shop. Like 12 bin bags worth at least. DS has been selling his toys on ebay and buying ones he likes rather than adding to his horde. Books that DH put on the shelf like Ryan Giggs the autobiography about 5 yrs ago and has never read have been "disappeared" :rotfl:
It has made tidying much easier for me as housework is v difficult for me so I need to tidy for the cleaner!
Keep going everyone. I do find it interesting how many of us have chronic conditions on here btwThere are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -

My nan used to do that.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
The problem is that she sometimes puts things in very random places. Any idea where half of the charger for DHs PSP is?:rotfl:
She has been so great though. I also pay her to iron DHs shirts. It is a very good use of DLA in my eyesThere are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
:D5 packets of Approved foods cous cous binned.
1 jar of asparagus hearts to DM
left over easter chocolate to be made into millionaires shortbread later.
1 too small tshirt into charity bag
out of date lasagne sheets to DM to make into lasagne to freeze for me - aspirational cooking here for me. I can't cook a whole meal from scratch so no point me having ingredients that I won't use. Also means that I don't have to use the top shelves in the kitchen cupboards as I can't stretch up there.
I count that as 9 things dericharded today.
DH thinks I might sell him soon!
He is going food shopping so there will be lots coming in which of course will include lots of junk foodThere are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -

Mine never puts things back in the same place either... I guess at least that way you know the surfaces have been cleaned! I outsource my ironing too. I agree it's a great investment. Work is very intense at the moment (I'm working away most weeks at the moment) so without help I wouldn't be able to get everything done between unpacking one suitcase and packing the next (who am I kidding... I've just unpacked bags from the last 2 trips ).0 -
Hiya Chivers, well done on all the clearing out :T! It is interesting that so many of us have chronic conditions. I have a couple but don't want to put them "out there" in case it helps people recognise me! I'm hoping no-one does from the other info I put out!:rotfl:
I'm still luxuriating (is that a word??) in the house sitting. Miss my home though believe it or not and can't wait to get started again. Being here and it is very simple (not so much minimilist), not OTT either way, but so easy to look after despite it being about 10 times the size of my place. There is of course more storage but it's not cluttered at all. You can instantly find what you want in the cupboards and drawers.
I also admit to having binned AF cous cous.0 -
I got a phone call from DD at the CS where he works on Saturday mornings asking me if he could buy himself a new desk chair. His old one is a bit wrecked so I said yes and went round in the car to pick up this very solidly built piece of furniture. He's a big lad so he got to carry it up the stairs and I was just bolting up the second wing of our front storm door when he appeared at the top of the stairs again with his old chair, brought it downstairs and said he knew I wouldn't want it hanging around, he'd put it in the car for me to take to the dump tomorrow.
So that was one decluttering decision made, or rather no decision required!Val.0
