    Elona,

    How are things today?

    D&DD,

I'd give them to a charity shop but ring them up first. Then get DS3 to go with you to take them in, and get the shop ladies to make a fuss of him. And then maybe a little treat too.

  • Anyone considering a greenhouse, check on the internet for bargins and deals, usualy much better than the garden centres and more choice. If you can afford it buy automatic vent openers with it as these make it much easier to manage the greenhouse even if it is in your own garden. I love mine for tomatoes, chillies cucumbers and peppers plus I use it as a potting shed for sowing, pricking out and growing on plus overwintering. If you can save expensive plants from dying overwinter in your greenhouse (without heating) this helps to make the greenhouse more cost effective.

Elona, sounds like a job for Dr House! Hope they have one at your hospital. All the best.

I love making jam with my own fruit but we don't eat a lot of jam so last year I made up baskets of my homemade produce for Christmas presents, they seemed to go down very well. However can't give them to my parents as they make even more jam than I do, Dad is a really good gardener and he produces loads of fruit and veg so they make lots of jam and chutney as well as fruit pies, crumbles etc throughout the year, extra fruit frozen for out of season puddings.

    Patchwork quilt?

    Did somebody want me?

Made myself put a carrier bag together for the charity shop today. I'm just waiting for DH's opinion on the red plastic-handled steak knives his parents gave us years ago. I'm afraid I never liked them but it doesn't seem like my decision. Put in a 'twin' cut-glass trifle bowl too and my china tea pot is going to a friend - I've got Grandma's teapot and I don't need another. I went in to 0xfam earlier and they're selling one of my old vases for £19.99! It was in the glass case! Makes me confident that they will make the best use of our stuff.

Too busy doing other OS stuff today involving food to do much decluttering but I was up the attic briefly to put one of my spinning wheels away and made a point of sorting out one small easy box while I was up there. One pair of curtains (they're breeding, I swear!) and one handbag for the CS and some scrap fabric for the nursery crafts pile.

I was glad you put it on because as soon as I read it, I thought...ooh yes, haven't seen Patchwork Quilt for a few pages.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks sybil, I do wonder what the tipping point is before you get a balance with faff, taste, time and expense when it comes to making certain things. I buy those little teeny tiny pots of jam. They're 4 for £1 at the supermarket and it means I can have 4 different flavours and not get bored. Even though the price per kilo is super expensive I use it all, there's no waste and I feel that I get value for money and that's all that matters!

I've been reading a book from the library all about the pantry this week, it's a fab book and has made me think - what do I use the pantry for and what do I want it to do? That's really helped to cut down the things I think I should have in so I hope it'll reduce the amount of stuff I buy too.

Can you tell me the name and author of this book please? I am trying to think pnatry atm!

Well dericharders, you would be proud of me, i went and orayed at the tk maxx richard temple and left with very, very little.

I did fill a trolley with things i might like to have bought, but only took a fraction of it to the till. I often do a trolley load of shoppping then put it all back. I find i get the thrill of the hunt that way and the virtuous feeling of no spend. I did quite want the little purple boots i wouldn't be able to walk in, and the faux fur coat, but i did not NEEd them, so they stayed there for some one else.

I did buy a lamp to replace one we have been borrowing and its going home in the next couple of weeks. I found this really hard to buy, and i am not sure if i love or hate the one i have bought. i get these two emotions confused at times :o:rotfl: Its not my normal 'style', but its a damn sight cheaper than my normal style.

I did see stuff thats on my to purchase list but that i just did not like enough after all too.
  • That's ok Dragon. It's a pleasure to be back, especially now I've caught up with all the posts. It's made me go out to the garage and get those jam jars that were on Freecycle - which nobody wanted - and post them all in the recycling bin. The neighbours must think we have quite a problem!

An update on the charity bag - DH said he wasn't emotionally attached to the red-handled knives, so they're going, but DS took back the enormous and ghastly mug I was trying to get rid of on the basis that it was his and I can't just throw things away. (!)

However, he then started teasing me and saying I wanted to get rid of it because it didn't match everything else. Oops! He's right.

    But it was ghastly.

Anyway, it's now in his 'Uni' box, so I can't see it next to my floral bone china mugs and he will be able to use it somewhere else, one day.

Whitewing I may test the water with him at the charity shop by taking a couple first and seeing if he can cope with that,if I can explain in a way he'll understand that it will help other children I'm sure he will want to let them go,will keep you posted!

Dragon I'm going to make a couple of memory quilts for him too thankyou :D

Another two bags of games/dvds etc for the trade in shops and chucked out two really past it pairs of gardening shoes..this is really quite liberating isn't it??:rotfl:

Elona, hugs...hoping you hear something soon.

I had my counselling session today. It seems I am severely depressed, (and that's with meds, so not so good)...I do however put on a very good act outwardly, because I have no choice. It's really hard dealing with the fear and being hyper alert.

The clutter/hoarding, well she said she perhaps would come round to see my home. She asked what I would do and I said I wouldn't let her in. She asked why and I said I would be too ashamed. So, she said why was it alright for me to live in this skip (my word) but not for someone else to be part of it. Why was I not worthy of living in a nice home.

Maybe someone here can answer that because I'm not sure how to. ( I don't mean specifcally answer it for me).

Anyway, I will process it over the next few days, because it's hard at first.

    :(
