I live very close to one. It's a hard place to stay out of, but I must be strong.
What an adorable kitten!
I've been cracking up about the aspirational bananas. After several [STRIKE]years[/STRIKE] decades, more truthfully, I've reluctantly come to accept that I like eating a lot more than I like cooking. And certain aspirational ingredients or recipes aren't going to be used or followed because they go over the top on my personal Faff-o-Meter. So off they can go.
Having said that, I am seeking to be partially-adopted by a keen cook who would like to have a test-subject. Will eat anything I can spell, as long as coconut or seafood isn't involved.
I was sorely tempted by a greenhouse myself but managed to pull back before committing to a big purchase, on the grounds that they require a lot of work and I'm not willing to run up and down to my lottie constantly. This week, I'm keeping someone else's lottie greenhouse tommies going for a week whilst they are on holiday and it's a reminder why I didn't get my own. Such a relief to find out before rather than after I'd got one.
After all, you can buy a lot of tomatoes for the price of a halfway decent greenhouse............:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I can just imagine what we'd look like with partially exploded mangoes, black bananas and manky pineapples on our heads. Zombie Carmen Miranda.0

WW, well done for dealing with something so difficult. And for being able to see the words for what they were. :A
Thank you byatt. The letters are now out of the house and out of my life.
I really love the kitten photo.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Thanks all for the warm welcome and support. Sorry I'd not been online and this thread has moved on very quickly!
Jojo - thank you for your helpful suggestions. There are some really good ideas I can try to reduce the pile before getting onto the more emotional stuff.
Contessa - that's very true, the hoard has taken years to build up so if I can just tackle it a bit at a time...
Blossomhill - that's a good idea to pick random amounts to discard. Then hopefully I can feel pleased I have acheived that rather than beating myself up by how much is left!
OK. Off to do some clearing. Will report back!0 -
I found the floor a couple of hours ago, in order to vacuum it. It's quite nice down there with the Marley tiles and my 2 handmade rugs. Unfortunately, I have now lost the sofa under the kipple..............:rotfl: Sometimes, you just struggle to keep ahead.
It'll be better after the weekend as some of the bits floating around my home are due to be taken back whence they came. One thing I love about library books is that I don't have to store them when I've finished with them. I can sometimes be a bit obsessive about getting them outta here that same day or the day after at the latest.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I loved the kitten photo too, it is so cute.
Order from AF arrived this morning and I got a quick trip to hairdresser squeezed in this morning so look less dishevelled.
DD's scan on skull was fine but she has a blood clot on lung and more than one on her kidneys. They are doing tests on her heart, veins and blood in the next couple of days as well, DH and I had mouths open as we were not expecting all the new tests needed.
She still thinks she is well enough to go home but seems to be cooperating with tests etc. Every time we think there is a clear diagnosis more questions come up. Ironically she looks quite fit and has always got over any minor illness quickly so it is disconcerting to hear test results.
Hugs to all and thanks for the good wishes."This site is addictive!"

I was about to buy some clothes today and realised that I have lost about a stone in weight recently, and am somewhat between sizes - previously I would have bought either for now, (and soon found them too big), or for my aspirational size (and probably never got there) ... today I decided I didn't need to buy anything until I am definitely one size or the other, even though I was looking at end-of-sale items, likely to be gone soon. I was pleased with my decision (so went into the 99p shop and bought sweets instead!)
I have been bagging up scrap metal today to take to gold buyers tomorrow - wish me luck!
(sorry elona, cross posted with you, don't wish to overlook your post. You must be so worried about DD, my thoughts are with you having been there over th elast few years)You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
(((((((((elona)))))))))))))) what a worry for your family. Here's hoping that you get a definitive diagnosis for her soon, and that it's all treatable. Thinking of you, pet.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
