wannabesybil Could you come up with a story for littlebear?
Like lonely stuff locked up in attic wanting to do good - blankets for animal sanctuary? Clothes that don't fit that want to be used?
Think toy story only blankets . clothes etc."This site is addictive!"

Cheat, cheat... :rotfl::rotfl:
Today, I went into a shop and bought a bulb, a special type which is a white light...
I then went into another shop and bought the exact same bulb, because I had forgotten I was carrying the one I bought in a plastic bag , only half an hour earlier! :eek::rotfl:Some days I shouldn't be let out.0 -
I simply dont know where to start...
Picklepot - none of us do. Jojo started this threat as almost a howl against the awfulness of Her, but it has sort of shifted and faded and drifted into an amazing support group that are all at different stages, and all have different stories, and we can find common ground and different strategies but I bet my last breath that we have all at some point just looked at where we are and wondered, 'where the heck do I start?' (or variations thereof, some like me use more bad language). Me, my suggestion and the thing that worked for me, is to just grab the first bit you can get hold of. The theory says start at the back/unseen stuff because that is going to be easy as it is ages since it saw light and you are making a hole to put useful stuff in. Personally, just start in the middle if you have to. Pefectionism got many of us in this hole. Looking for the perfect way out of it doesn't seem to work (and if it does for you, please, please share). You can only do what you can do and you can't start any earlier than now. That is genius. As I am currently defining myself as a writer, this is a great idea. I am going to get little bear to tell the story though, as much as I can. He has a great sense of narrative. It will, I think, help him feel safer about it, even though I will be asking a lot of leading questions...
I really appreciate all the help I am getting with approaching little bear. I have talked (with extra cuddles) about getting rid of the blankets to the RSPCA shop, and explained that not all pets are loved like evil cat (our cat is evil. Beautiful, although now showing all of her eighteen years, but definitely evil. Old in sin. I envy your lovely torties.) I hope that some of it sank in, and he is more or less okay for them going now. I also mentioned that we were planning on tidying his room and changing it about, and we wanted to get rid of one or two things to make way for nicer things. He's tentatively accepted that, but more cuddles and talking will be needed. I also stressed what we were keeping.
I mentioned that we were going to be getting new curtains to match the new wastepaper bin, and little bear asked to keep the old ones to cuddle. I am going to have to work on that.
KAT44 - AF boxes are awesome. I immediately and without hesitation flatten them and put them in the recycling bin as soon as I can. If I don't, they never leave. Spilling something noxious on them may also work. Also the big ones make great dens for little bear and many have been decorated. More boxes are only an AF order away. Also corner shops. Also supermarkets. They are good to recycle and good to pass on to people moving. I once passed on a vast quantity to the nursery little bear then attended to build things with. But if you let them sit, you are lost! Good fortune!
Byatt - with the shopping, I thought it was only me who did that:o:o

Well apparently DD2's BF is coming over to meet us on Wednesday...
So this gives me until Wednwsday to make parts of this house habitable!
So instaed of saying where do I start - I guess I'll just have to get stuck in!
I may post photos....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Don't know if I saw it on this thread, but anyone finding it hard to let go of fabrics/clothes that take up space, there are companies that can make them into keepsake bears such as this one I found on a google search:
http://bubsbears.com/About.html:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I am going to post photos of before and after, when I've done the after...:o
Just too embarrassed to put the before on here yet.
I agree Sybil, Elona's suggestion is genius, such a fab idea. Another thought, I'm sure I've seen the idea on here or on the site, but could you do a patchwork or a cushion made out of his fave things. I know!.. it was on the Superscrimpers thread...have you seen that show? Someone made cushions out of her childrens clothes that they had grown out of.
edit, snap! Whitewing, same thought. Love the idea of the bears, I'm going to have a look.
another edit, Hi D&DD, well done on the shredding. The shredder I got is not as good as I first thought! Not impressed at all, makes an awful noise, will only cope with one sheet instead of 5 and packs up after shredding about a dozen pieces of paper!0 -
Thanks Byatt the shredder was only a cheapo one from WHSmiths too I mix my next door neighbours grass cuttings in with it and it makes lovely compost
I too am guilty of trying to hang on to AFood boxesand do not get me started on my fabric stash :rotfl:

Hello back all :wave::wave:
I am in the position of having 2 DDs in a fairly average sized 4 bed house ( modern build hence small rooms) However, my parents have a largish 4 bed bungalow - 1930's so very large rooms - and have almost filled it to the rafters! What annoys me a bit is that we spent much of our childhood/teenage years being told off for being untidy - and now my parents (on their own) have a full/untidy house and I have an organised, tidy house!
They are on the normal spectrum of hoarding - eg the garage etc is full of tat but the house is relatively clear (so far). However, what has spurred me on to post recently is the revelation that I am to be their executor if and when anything happens to my parents. Partly, I'm flattered because I am the eldest, grown-up one with a great husband and 2 children of my own, and my siblings, as much as I love them, do not live yet in the real world of budgeting and looking after anything more than a pot plant. However, I'm a bit annoyed/overwhelmed with the possible responsibility - I have 2 small children, a husband in the military so often out of the country, and am trying to finish my medical degree. As well as having a long term (manageable) medical condition (SLE).
I'm sorely tempted to look into how one refuses to be an executor as it will cause sibling strife if it's only me, whilst being annoyed a bit that it will end up being me that has to wade through knee-deep in Readers' Digest mags et al to find wills, paperwork etc. "If you want something done, ask a busy woman" they say. Well, this busy woman has quite enough to be going on with. How do I broach it with el parentes?
