My scrapbooking paper that I ordered online yesterday turned up this morning. It's lovely.

People, we are pledging to clearing clutter not become nuns in bare cells (apologies for stereotyping). We are allowed to buy and enjoy things occasionally. I think when some of us talk about not buying, we mean partly not spending money mindlessly and partly that the desire to buy certain things lessens when the home is clearer (especially when you start letting go of aspirational lifestyles). I am not keeping or buying card making stuff but am buying scrapbooking stuff as and when I need it. By which I mean 'need' not buying it because it's pretty and I'll use it one day maybe.

That said, I rarely buy magazines these days.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Valk - loads out, small amount in, sounds like a win to me.

Brighton Belle - since darling father moved in with us I have started drinking alcohol, so between that and chocolates and bubble bath, it's all presents that are consumable. I now request something around 20% proof. I am still recovering from the Sambuca. I actively work to give presents now that do not need dusting :) magazine subscriptions are usually good as well.
    .

LOL, I'm teetotal, don't like chocolate very much and can't use bubblebath/soaps:D. But I do love giving consumeable presents as I love a bit of baking. Magazines I personally would find burdensome. But we each have to find what works for us definitely. There is no one size fits all. I just wanted to post what I had to show it is possible to choose the 'no pressies' option sometimes when appropriate to yourself) and go for a nice shared experience instead.
(And my post wasn't referencing yours - I have no recollection of you mentioning presents (Med induced fatigue affecting consentration/memory), I was just talking about me as I've just had a nice birthday:D)
I was going to post earlier that I am making significant plans to kidnap little bear, as I think every home should have one, he sounds delightful - but given I am a stranger on the internet didn't want to creep you out:rotfl:

I could Fed-ex a [STRIKE]little ratbag[/STRIKE] simply adorable  young boy cat to you instead? He only lies in wait for you on the stairs and grabs your feet as you go past. And pokes his paws and claws through the hole on the top of the kitchen steps when you happen to have your behind sat on them at the time. And only launches himself nearly into the washing basket on the top of the radiator, but drags it back off the top onto the floor with a crash and pinning himself underneath it in the process.

So absolutely no trouble at all. And he only falls off the windowsill about ten times a day.

One owner from new, slightly shop soiled, 11 months on the clock, just one broken fang as a result of falling over or running headfirst into a wall for the 15th time.

[NB: No refunds available. Stress levels may go down or more likely up with this gift. Errors, omissions and outright lies about the psychotic little beast excepted]

    I've been Money Tipped!
Oh, i want another kitten. Or a pair of them. Our cats are eight (sisters) and i really find the idea of being without them unbearable. I know new cats would not be the same, but they would hopefully be the age of purs now ish when that time of ours going seemed nearer.

I just cannot decide whether we should get more or not. My cats are almost human, and we are a very tight bond, so i think it might be hard for new kittens, and indeed for our girls, to accept new ones. Otoh, now a parent lives here we are one cat short at all times, i think it likely new cats would bond with parent, who also adores cats.

Tempting as your offer is, Jojo, I find myself turning down your generous, self sacrifcing offer as, unlike little bear, there would be no potential to turn him into my house hold serf.

  • A big welcome to all the new dehoarders

Not much to report here, a few small parcels of ebay stuff sent out this morning, but then I went clothes shopping :o. I did stick to a list and didn't overbuy, tomorrow I will throw out an equal number of old items.

I had a brainwave earlier: as I am unable to get into the loft, I have no idea what's up there. (And I mean NO idea, some of the stuff was already up there when we bought the house from my late aunt).
So I am going to get my DH to go up there tomorrow and take lots of pictures, so at least I will have some idea what we are dealing with and any obvious junk can be identified and got rid of immediately.

I may post the pictures if I am feeling brave or tech savvy enough to work out how to do it :o

  • He removes flies, spiders and other invertebrate lifeforms from the home. Hence the falling off the windowsill.

He's almost beginning to remember that the fluffy, buzzy, striped things in the flowers aren't very good to eat or pin down under the paw as well. But he still usually forgets until one of them reminds him at least once a week.

And he will keep your feet warm at night. When he's not murdering them.

I think, with two adult cats that are bonded, LIR, a pair of kittens for the house could be a good thing to do, as they'll be bothering the wotsits out of each other, rather than the older cats. I lost my old boy this year and the thought that, one week after he died, I was back at the vet with his sister for the same condition made me sick to the stomach.

As it is, she's still slinking around the place (much to my amazement, I never would have imagined that he would have gone first) but if it weren't for the other two, I realised I could easily have been left catless within the space of a fortnight. _pale_

    And kittens are fabulous!

If he also occasionally washes up, he'll outstrip DH so maybe I shouldn't have been so hasty...
