I am not a starter finisher it is fair to say :rotfl:
And Jojo and Byatt, you are definitely well liked - and bear in mind that you are liked by people who don't have to like you IYKWIM
Have moved the filing cabinet from OH's office where you could only just get the drawers open and it was a pain to get to and it's now in the spare bedroom - am rounding up the filing from all over the house now to put away properly. Already done one load.
This has also prompted OH to start a reorganisation of his office so hopefully there will be lots of IT stuff to freegle :T like old laptops.
I would like to aim to do a dump run next weekend but we are out Saturday at Twickenham for the rugby so that's Saturday out and Sunday will probably be spent recoveringMight try for one evening as I think the dump is still open late during the week (as it is allegedly still summer!)

DH has gone with 5 bags of confidential waste, 1 pile of empty files, and a pile of empty boxes (the latter for my relative who is sorting stuff for auction).
I have a (big) table of crafting stuff that I am hoping I will be able to pass to a therapy group, but I have to ask them about it first. It will need a little bit of sorting first.
I made the decision to pass on all my stamping equipment from when I used to do cardmaking. I then unmade the decision. I then remade the decision, then unmade it and remade it a few times. So, at the moment it is going. This has been a hard decision, not because crafting stuff costs so much, but because a lot was given to me by a close friend. (Given to me because I think she also finds it hard to let stuff go - I think I'm her contigency because if she gives it to me then needs it again, I will still have it). However, I think both our tastes have changed so it is unlikely she will mention it, and if she does and I've given it to a worthy cause I am sure she won't mind),
A lot of the paperwork I have got rid of was training notes or meeting notes. I always kept the notes and the typed up stuff. Honestly! When I am on a downer my organisational skills go to pot and everything gets clung onto.
I also found a formal warning that I got in college. Now, I don't ever remember actually receiving the warning although I vaguely remember bits associated with it (it was to do with non-attendance at certain lectures). I felt so sad though looking at it because I was really struggling at the time with my home environment and undiagnosed mh problems. Because my parents refused to acknowledge the mh issues (because they felt they were wonderful parents and it was a huge stigma), I could not get any support or medication. At a later point I was prescribed anti-depressants and my dad flushed them down the toilet. I am glad though that there is a lot more support and awareness in college these days.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. that is so sad Whitewing...i remember the first time I was put on anti-depressants and my mother-in-law making a catty remark about them and thinking that with a ma-in-law like that it was no wonder i was on them!
A continually inspiring thread ladies, when ever i need a kick up the you-know-what i just read what some of you are up against and throw something out.

[Staggers in and slumps onto the sofa]
Well, got up in time for the visit to the MIL.
Then took niece out to see BIL perform at an outdoor show - which was insanely loud for 1pm, being right in front of the stage and when still feeling slightly fragile from the previous night's performance.
But, ignored the pounding in my head and my rather tired eyes and got on with having fun, and after 90mins of standing up, singing and dancing with the best of them, I was fit to drop.
So now I'm home and have just noticed that I have 'caught the sun' - which is, obviously, a euphemism for 'face turning into a sundried tomato'
I am having spaghetti hoops on toast for breakfast now. I don't count the two cans of Red Bull I had earlier as breakfast.
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired!
But it's lovely coming back to an absolutely clear kitchen. All I needed to do was walk in, chuck the keys on the side and go and put the kettle on. No fumbling to find the least dirty cup in the minging sink, no trying to find a dishcloth, sponge or scrubbing brush or a teaspoon in the bottom of the sink but finding it down the side of the sofa welded to the seat in concretions of yoghurt and cat fur.
That aspirational person? Did you know how she gets there? By calming down the noise, by calming down the organisation, by never fumbling around to find a dirty teaspoon - the time saved gives her the space to experiment with whether she feels comfortable in seamed stockings (if nothing else, because she can find both legs - without any ladders in them - in the top drawer next to the suspender belt when she's getting dressed in the morning).
Anyway, the toast is burning, so I must fly, ladies. I shall be back anon.
xxI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Thanks to whoever mentioned the free listing weekend on eBay, I've had a bit of a sort out and taken photos of the things I want to sell / get rid of and worked out roughly what they weigh to estimate the postage. Unfortunately, I have been trying to list since yesterday afternoon and have only managed 7 items so far as I keep having to re-input my login details - on average about 10 - 15 times per listing - do you think this is some clever eBay ploy to get me to run out of time so I have to list when you need to pay instead?

Feeling rough today and physically and emotionally drained (but with no reason I can pinpoint although I didn't sleep great all weekend and work was really busy)
All I've managed to make myself do was some ironing although I've put by a couple of items of clothes that no longer fit the kids that had made their way to the ironing
I have, however also brought more items of clothing Into the form of 8 or 9 things for the kids ordered from next online sale none of theme were desperately needed! I have brought some toys in from the 2 closest Argos shops (clearance). But they are for Christmas so justifiedNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. I have had that problem with eBay before and the only way I got around it was by clearing cookies and internet history then close down the browser and going back in.
eBay do seem to have free listing every 2 to 4 weeks so there will be another one here soon if you don't get it all listed.Feeling rough today and physically and emotionally drained (but with no reason I can pinpoint although I didn't sleep great all weekend and work was really busy)
It's easy to berate yourself when you haven't done as much as you think you should but try to be kind to yourself. I know it's a vicious circle for me when I put myself down, then I feel useless / worthless so there's no point trying to do anything as I won't succeed or it will be rubbish if I do, then I tell myself I'm lazy.
The only person putting pressure and expectations on you is you :A
And, woo hoo, I managed to multi-quote for the first time0 -
OK! Which one of you was it?
I was at a stall at a village fair today . .. and a 60ish lady wanted a kids' game ... and her DD asked why she wanted it as she had no youngish kids ... and she said "THE PARTS ARE SO USEFUL, LOOK IT HAS BALL BEARINGS, I CAN ALWAYS USE THOSE!"
So which of you was it?
And what on earth can you repurpose ball bearings into? :rotfl:
I can relate to the crafters among you who are often told "you should sell these" - my response is to ask the person whether they go to craft fairs - if they say yes I ask them how many things in the £100s they have ever bought, and then how many they have seen being sold. They get my point! Most poeple only buy a bag of fudge!
PS - where are the men now, I know you are out there, why not posting anymore. Not admitting you are hoarders? Or maybe you admit you are hoarders but just don't want to do anythng about it?I will do what I can today, and then put the rest back in the cupboard for another clearout next weekend. Am going to pace myself and choose to be pleased with what I have done rather than desperately try and do loads. You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
