Nothing much to report as I've done nothing, after yesterday's garden work. It's very hot here, and met a friend for a cream tea and ice cream in the afternoon.
I used to iron when I had a family, my ex was in the RAF so had to iron his shirts etc to precision. Then DS joined the cadets...
If I had more space I would probably iron a bit, but I've come to accept my lived in look...:rotfl:though I quite like the idea of lounging and bon bons GQ.(hope your tatties are ok!)
Anyway, onwards and upwards tomorrow.

Well I've chucked (in the cash-for-clothes-pile) about 20-odd pairs of no longer remotely white socks and I now feel like indeed to run out and replace them!
I'm ok with the too-small-stuff as I realise I will never need it again so apart from the odd really loved item as long as I know it's going to a good home I'm cool with that. Most of it is like (or) new. I realise the buying needs to stop but it's like....oh, one more thing won't hurt.....and then I spend the day washing and ironing instead of playing with the girls.
My clothes are in so much of a mess that I don't really know what I do and dont have so just buy more (tops) instead of sorting it out.
Unfortunately granny is not to be reasoned with. She buys (new from shops in the sale) well in advance and doesn't even check if it's needed or tell us what she has bought ( was about to buy the girls school shoes the other day with the 50% brantano code till OH enlightens me to the fact she has them school shoes in). I think she thinks we live in a mansion (3 bed council house!).
I'd really struggle with anyone buying shoes for the children unless they had the kids with them... I love passed on clothes as I sort through so the boys only try on things I like, & we have the bag ready to put anything that doesn't fit straight in for getting rid off.
I've had problems with mother in law buying stuff that comes to us with no receipt so can't be taken back (to the extent I stopped thinking it & asked then-DH if he thought it possible she was shoplifting :-/ ) & ended up when she bought huge toys that we had no room for, saying ' oh, what a lovely (item), DS1 (or 2) will love playing with it when we visit you'...
Do the children stay over at granny's so you could say ' oh lovely, the girls will love wearing that when they stay with you'?This weeks purchases so far ( since yesterday). 4 x tops for me from Mr Ts (one is a vest top as one is see through)
4 x sale r shirts from mr A for OH (hoping he will chuck some of his raggy ones but can't assure he will). He can sometimes be worse than me and will berate me for spending in next on the girls (for something they may need) then on the flip side will be soft and let eldest (the only one particularly interested in clothes) get clothes coz they are cute. (then blame me of course). Anyway, I digress.......
2 Mr A sale tops for eldest as they had animals on and a-n-other sale top for middle as she will moan that she 'always gets nothing'.
Then 5 pk black school socks
School cardi for youngest
School pinafores for eldest and middle
Ruffle polo shirts for elder and middle
(btw there is a wardrobe full of school clothes)
Oh I may have picked up a pinky in Mr S for middle on Sat too!
I need to get new white vests for school (next I like their quality). The rest prob wasn't needed at all
I also have earmarked for payday animal print party dress for eldest as I can see the larger sizes are already out of stock. She wanted similar form very before Xmas and I waited too long and they sold out
I'm a lost cause,lol!
What helps me is online shopping - I put everything that catches my eye in the basket, then take out the stuff we don't need, can't justify the cost of, don't really like now I've thought about it...
Would it help you if you could put the passed down stuff so it looked like a shop for you to chose from? Or made a list with pictures to chose from?
Another thing I do is take stuff back - there's no fitting room at my local MrS, so there's an easy excuse for taking stuff back that I thought I'd like, popped in the trolley, looked at back at home & thought ' why?'... They've done refunds on stuff I've got 5 months ago, as long as you've got the receipt & tags still on, there's no question about doing a return.0 -
Hmm, have been slipping in lurkdom again which resulted from not doing much lately. Just making lunch for tomorrow then think I will start a new box / bag for the charity shop and see what I can round up.
Confession time...
I've done an AF order
Shared with my mum and sister so not all mine and it's being delivered to mum's house and I won't see her for a few weeks so I'll have time to find somewhere to put it but, still  more food coming in. All stuff I will use to be fair but a backward step in trying to deal with my massive food hoarding issues. Not that I hoard massive food but... you know what I mean!
LIR, hope it doesn't seem rude but cereal heating had me giggling0 -
I do MAINLY online shop and I do the filling then emptying the basket thing, lol but for most things I 'make' a reason to buy it.
I know where you re coming from re the shoes, but I'm just going to have to wait till granny decides to give them here so I can check them over before I decide if I need to do more buying. (I do have sale supermarket £3 shoes for the girls if necessary as a backup but like a 'proper' pair of school shoes for them...mebbe I'm just being snooty?)
A lot of clothes granny gives I hand on to someone else but sometimes she takes the girls out and buys stuff when they are there. They don't really stay with her, she lives just down the road! The big things are only given at Xmas time so there's no way of saying to keep it at hers
Other clothes she has given I let them wear when out playing, lol! (coz a lot of it is not really my taste) sometimes what she buys can be helpful, she bought wee one a load of school clothes for starting (and it will all be sale stuff she picked up AGES ago but she doesn't tell me in time and I ALSO started getting her stuff in!)No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Wahey! OH has found his bank card (down the back of the junk he chucks his Sid of the bed)
Does that mean I can refrain from the clutter-busting? No? Not getting off that easily?
Am now watching superscrimpers on +1. I think I'm a bit too much like the family doing all the spending on here!No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
I've got rid of loads of stuff today! Battered books in the bin, incomplete puzzles gone, toys & books the wrong age or interest... About 5 big bin liners in the bin, recycling bin is full, 2 bags ready for the CS & plans for selling the unwanted clothes!
Oh yeah... It was all at work though, not at home... We did drop off 2 bags to the CS yesterday from home, & my council are trialling recycling clothes with the other recycling stuff, so another bag went in the blue bin. I bought me a skirt, tried it, into the wardrobe & pulled another out & added to the clothes recycling bag. Not brilliant progress there, but I actually don't have many me clothes. Got DS1 2 shirts - he prefers shirts to t shirts & will need enough clothes for at 6th form. Asked him to sort some t shirts out to get rid of & he gave me a bag of clothes that don't fit him or he won't wear anymore.
We discussed a sticking point for him with getting rid of clothes - I'd asked if he had any to pass onto his cousins, & he admitted because my sister isn't very pleasant to be around, it puts him off sorting out clothes for her step son. So we agreed to CS the clothes, & he's promised to put more in the bag as he finds them.0 -

Oh, I am super mean :-) Having asked nanny not to get big stuff because the boys were sharing a tiny bedroom, when she got them big stuff for Christmas or birthdays, I still said she'd got to keep it at her house. I have got her to check now & listen when I say what the boys have room for!0 -
Don't feel like doing. Uh today. Feel very hay feverish think I will have to sort out the final bits around comp desk though and do SOME ironing.
Don't think anything will be getting got-rid-of today. But will also try to sort out the plastic recyclingNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
I'm going to work on decluttering the garden today. I'm feeling a bit better now and need to sort out the chicken run; DH has been rebuilding it following a fox attack but hasn't finished & probably isn't going to get the chance now as his father is dying out in Spain, so he may need to fly out at a moment's notice, which is a bit unsettling to say the least. But the birds need their home back before they finish eating all of my currants & berries...
Anyway, there's loads of just plain rubbish lying around out there, and all sorts of uninvited plants partying away in my beds. I can't bear to lie around feeling sorry for myself (or indeed anyone else) indoors any longer!Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
