Soolin - thank you for asking after me - I won't be able to get to the convention but I will be admiring Mr Pratchett from afar. Are you going?

    It'QUOTE]

Yes I am going , hurrah!

Thank you all for the positive thoughts about old cosmetics, I have dumped half a bin bag load, bathroom looks really tidy. I do still have the huge stock pile in the floor to ceiling cupboard in the downstairs loo, but that is all new and sealed. I am still all upside here with carpet people etc, but have listed some of my still sealed stockpile of nice things to go on Facebook selling.

I have sorted out a 'coat' cupboard, how many coats can a family of 5 actually need?

Have two big bin liners for the CS and half a dozen ads up on facebook for the other- I can actually close the doors now.

Umm I confess to having about 12 coats/jackets.

Kids have an excess of them too

OH doesn't even really wear coats/jackets but has at least 5jackets!

Afternoon, decluttered my winter pelt today at the salon. Horrific is the only way to describe it!

It's just too hot to do anything down here - my bedroom at 5pm, with the curtains closed since 9pm last night, and the tower fan blasting away for the same length of time, has cooled down to 30 Celsius. That's 86 F in old money. Serves me right for living in a well insulated, south east facing, large windowed house with a brick paved front, I suppose.

I think the heat is getting to us all. I'm planning the renovated boys /spare bedroom and am drawing floor plans and OH and me are now bickering over the size of a bed.

I have a big gothic bed frame so it a bit larger all round even though it is only a double. But OH is insisting we use that as a template plus a bit extra for 'emergencies' (even though I am buying a basic double divan )

So I am drawing plans with a 4ft 6 width, plus 2 inches for duvet , and he wants to round it up to 4ft 11 or 5ft to prove my plans will make the room look crowded. He also wants to allow 7ft for the length, I've had to come and pretend to be looking up bed measurements otherwise I am going to chuck my tape measure out of the window.

I am also, of course, sneaking in drawers for storage, even though he found a basic no drawer bed for less than £300 delivered- I am just going to get the dearer one with drawers.

EDIT: The drawers will mean that the overflow of clothes that live permanently on the floor in the main bedroom will finally have a home.

I've got some shirts I need to get round to ironing.
Got thinking today. If we had a more even climate we'd need less stuff. :j Now wouldnt that be great?
I've made a start by getting rid of some net curtains. Will never be clear and clutter free as there are too many of us in too small a house but at least I can try. I just wish I had another bedroom and utility room. Then we wouldnt have to cram 2 adults into 1 childs single bedroom and DGS when he comes to stay. its like sardines. I also have to keep ironing board on the landing and tins and stuff under the bed. not ideal.:(

Yep,having stuff for all occasions takes a lot of room. Now that we have more, and cereal heating a lot of stuffis worn for all buta few weeks of the year that previously might have been more seasonal too.

I am so hot i can barely think let alone de richard.

If in doubt, have four sets of measurements; Standard Double, Standard King, plus IKEA double and IKEA king. Have them all planned (when he's in the loo or something). That way he can say it's rubbish, etc, you can produce the next one down until you get to the size you want.

I have lots of experience negotiating with [STRIKE]stubborn gits with zero spatial awareness[/STRIKE] OHs who want ten foot either side of them when they will then dump a ton and a half of crud right next to their head and complain there's wasted space that could have more furniture in.
