I really don't understand the negativity on here. I think LadyMissA has been very courageous to apply again. A lot of people wouldn't have bothered, but she put herself out there. What has she got to lose?

And this business about the public transport.. I can't drive, so I only ever use PT & never has it been frowned upon. I make it very clear to employers that I will be catching buses to work, but I always allow for any delays (& usually get there 30 minutes early! Lol). There's no point telling someone that you're home is 15 mins drive away if you can't drive! Lol. Honestly, when they voice their concerns about PT, I tell them that I use it a lot & know the bus routes like the back of my hand. My last job, I spent an 90 mins travelling each way!

I wish you the best of luck LadyMissA.

So do we all but it helps to identify the reasons for failure and address them.

What do you suggest LMA needs to change in the approach to the job this time.

I don't really understand what the travelling time has got to do with ability to do the job. You will find, as I did, that many people working in London use public transport and easily spend an hour getting to work.

Secondly, why does everyone assume that if they didn't get a job that it was for negative reasons and they had a bad application/interview. When I worked at a well known University about 10 years ago, I frequently sat on interview panels for secretarial staff. We used to get a lot of applications for these jobs and usually ended up interviewing about 10. After the interviews we were left with 3 or 4 who stood out, and it was always difficult to pick the right one. On one occasion we ended up with 2 people and stayed until the evening debating on who to appoint. The bottom line was that we had to reject a number of very good candidates as we only had one vacancy. Writing reject letters is very difficult and no matter what you say a rejected candidate is always going to feel negative and unwanted although he/she may in fact be very good.

We used to encourage people to reapply so I would say go for it, and good luck.

    How is it negative saying...

can do the job with my eyes shut.

To me this says "will get bored easily and leave"

You have not read the thead or have not understood it.

It is not about negative reasons, if anything it is too many positives.

It is suspected the reasons for rejection was that the LMA was not seen as a potential stayer.

Primeraly because the job was not big enough, so over qualified, too much experience, would get fed up, not be challenging enough etc.

could some all or none but adreesing that issue is important this time round.

Commute time and cost is often a significant factor in leavers IMO anything over 30mins and people think about it would be nice if it was shorter.

LMA needs to eliminate all things that could be considered on the negative side of is this candidate a stayer or not.

Good luck with the application, hope you get another interview!

If so, you should discuss what they meant in their last letter, whether itis the same people interviewing you or not. That way it shows you are beinghonest, and hopefully you can also address the concerns they had last time andcan put your case across.

But like I said in the interview I have a lot of experience and as it was a new role they didn't know where it would lead or what it would turn out to be, using me to THEIR best advantage.

I think I would stay at £2k more than my last job.

Travel is over 50% cheaper to get to than my last job

    Travel time about the same.

No one in London seriouly thinks they should only travel 30 mins door to door. You wouldn't get very far at all.

my last job, my last job, my last job?

I think you should forget your last job because it seems your last job was quite some time ago and any experience you might bring to the table may well be out of date by now to a forward looking company.

I work in fraud for a bank, previously worked in hospitality so I gained the job with no experience at all but they must have liked something.

Then as one of the guilty people responsible for wrecking the global economy you should stop spouting twaddle and condemning others who are trying to actually do some work and instead spend your entire time apologising and performing unpaid community service in an attempt to make partial reparation.

What has got me with how this thread has gone, we as poster don't know how the OP has worded her cv or application letter, yet some see fit to critic and make assumptions by the way she posts on here. The OP only asked if she should apply for the job she was over looked for a few years ago. And was quite rightly in two minds in doing so, you never know if you don't try.

Wait what? How on earth is working in Fraud wrecking the global economy. He is not committing fraud. He is working with fraud and alleged fraud cases.
