Job advertised again.....would you apply?
Comments

I would have called the person I was dealing with last time, and had "the chat".
Hi, I applied for a ........ job in ....... I see you are looking for someone similar again I am still intrested .........
Do not make any comments about why or how the new job has come up jut get a feel for if they want to take it further.
Comment like they must have employed a job hopper when you don't have a clue what the situation is will put you in the wrong frame of mind.0 -
I found this with a job I just recently applied for with the same company and they accepted my application just wait for them to sift applicants. Most companies say previous applicants needn't apply.0

I would reapply and you don't need to draw attention to the fact that you applied before. 18 months is along time and other people may have moved on, in my experience employers don't keep people on file for more than 6 months so rarely get back to people after that.
In real life people get job offers for all sorts of reasons, hence the sometimes pathetic it's not you it's me feedback. I work with someone who was employed because they just 'clicked on the day' !!!!!!. The much better person who did not get the job was employed at the next round of interviews, he has now moved onwards and upwards and the person who 'clicked on the day' has been long term sick.
Go for it and boost your confidence by reminding yourself that they lost out the first time

I agree with jetplane about not drawing their attention to your earlier application.
Glad to hear you applied - and best wishes for this time.
PS Just because they are re-advertising after 18 months doesn't mean the originally successful candidate moved to another company, they could have been promoted.0 -
Nah they wouldn't have been promoted. I know the company and they have two people doing the same job then the Accountant above them.anamenottaken wrote: »I agree with jetplane about not drawing their attention to your earlier application.

I wouldn't call them as suggested as I will leave to to them to contact me if they want. I do not expect to hear back anyway, but worth a chance.0 -
I don't think you'll be disappointed.I wouldn't call them as suggested as I will leave to to them to contact me if they want. I do not expect to hear back anyway, but worth a chance.
Do you really think it's practical for companies to keep people 'on file' 'in case' something crops up two years down the line? It's not. It's quite probably a breach of data protection legislation too.
I actually tell applicants that we will NOT keep them on file. After 18 months, you could have moved. You may be in a new job and no longer available. Your situation could have changed, and this job is no longer of any interest.
If you are at all interested, get in touch with them. And by all means ask why the vacancy has arisen, but how do you know it's the person who was recruited last time who's left? And at what stage is it acceptable to leave a job - if it's job hopping after 18 months?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
OK you don't want to call, but I think you need to give yourself an edge and a lot of jobs go through networking, you have potential contacts in the company so use them.
lets assume it is the same job and the person left and you get through to interview again.
How are you going to tackle the know issues for rejection last time?
What do you think the reasons for rejection were?0 -
It is the same job as this was a new position created and it is worded as the same job as there are only 2 people in accounts doing this work.getmore4less wrote: »OK you don't want to call, but I think you need to give yourself an edge and a lot of jobs go through networking, you have potential contacts in the company so use them.

I can safely say the job was not big enough as this job was only dealing with 700 invoices a month where at my last job I was dealing with 1600-2000. Also it was not doing the payment runs, or anything else I was doing at my last job. I guess the guy interviewing me missjudged my workload at my previous job.
The guy who interviewed me said the job was not suited to me not the other way round as I know I could do the job very easily. My interview lasted an hour and if he was not keen at all I am sure it would have lasted a lot less.
Maybe he doesn't work there anymore and they have no record of ever seeing me so maybe I could stand a chance but you never know.0 -

I think you may have missed the real issue.
What does all that really mean?
What do you do to over come it?
Whats the money like?
What's the travel time and cost?0 -
Ah and I have just looked up the FC on Linkedin and they are new. Only been there since November 2010.
Guess the one who interviewed me retired or something as he had been there 21 years!0
