not enough to say you want the job or are a good match for it, so will all the other people who apply, what would make you stand out?
I doubt all of them have worked for 20 years in the same industry. The advert says that you have to have industry experience.

I didn't realise you were the recruiter and that I had to sell myself here, to be fair.

You don't. However, if what you say comes across to us as negative rather than positive, is it best we say nothing because you're not trying to sell yourself here, or is it more helpful to suggest ways in which you could sound more positive?

Of course I wouldn't say that.

My cover letter says I am adaptable and a mentor for younger memebers in the team which I was at my old job. They can use me to their best advantage.

Pretend? I am not pretending I want the job!!!

45 mins travel is not a lot at all. I have travelled 95 mins before so a short distance compared to that.

The job stands out as its the same industry as ALL my jobs in the last 20 years and an old customer of the last company I worked for. The job is doing the same thing I have done for the last 20 years so I am a good match for it. I don't really need to convince anyone on here I want the job.

This role supervises no junior staff as there are none - like I have said just two in this team doing the same work. From what I remember last time there were 6-7 in finance.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies. Just a case of waiting now, I guess.

By saying the above in the cover letter when there are no people to mentor is not sensible and ticks the box "wants more than this job offers will leave".

If this was a previous customer don't you have contacts inside you can call on.

Still missing the point on the travel, "it's convenient only 15mins".

You don't have to convince people here but it would help if you did as practice for the real thing.

How is it negative saying they can use me to THEIR best advantage, or that I have had dealings with the company, worked in the industry for 20 year, have dealt with them as a customer & can do the job with my eyes shut.

You surely have to show you can do MORE than they want, not less. Having a person who can do less makes no sense and maybe a reason why this person is leaving.

I have never been a supervisor and am not looking for a role as one as I have no experience that shows on my CV in job title.
    No I have no contacts.

They are fully aware of my postcode and where I live so they know its only 'up the road'

    ---the end---

It looks like over playing is what got you rejected last time as being a potential leaver for something better.

If you are claiming to have had dealings with the company, but then have no contacts why?

Yes and these contacts would be in sales ledger and all this time on I can not remember their names and they have no clout when it comes to the Financial Controller picking CV's

I'm sorry LadyMissA but I've never seen anyone who really wants the job, who was disappointed at not getting and is really really keen on getting it - voice that in such negative tones.

When applying for jobs it's ALL about the language and approach. Just the words you use paint a picture [as you have painted on here] and I just hope your CV and covering letter were full of enthusiasm and excitement that the role has come free again...as it's not coming across like that at all on here, no matter how much you say you are, it's just not.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
