I just want to apologise for being depressing before I start but I need to offload and I know this is the best place:A

For certain reasons I cannot give too many details but will try to explain best I can.

For the last week I have spent a lot of time in my local ITU sitting with a lady whom I have known for 15months. This is to do with my work although it does not normally involve hospitals and never situations like this :( The lady is only in her early 40's and through complications from a simple operation is now severely ill. Got told the weekend she is unresponsive and they think brain dead, although her heart is beating she is on a respirator. I have sat and talked, laughed and tried my best to be positive not knowing if she can hear anything I am saying:( I found out today that they will be turning the respirator off tomorrow and she will either die or breathe for herself but be faced with a life of 24hr care with no dignity:( . I know I should be more professional and it should not be affecting me this way but this is the first time I have been faced with such a sad situation. I don't know until the morning if I am expected to be there when it happens as she has no close family.
How will I be strong? I really don't think I can be :(

my heart goes out to you and the lady

You are a human being not a robot you can't expect to be strong in such a situation, if this lady has no close family then you are doing a wonderful thing by being with her...it's an impossible situation but you are doing all you can being there for her in a dreadful situation.

Don't worry about being professional, I used to work in a vets and constantly broke down when sad things happened, just hold her hand and sit with her - you cant do anymore but that.

    Hugs ((:())

Ooh and Karlie, I prefer the green one. We had a red car and found it faded on the bonnet and roof
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.

:doh:I think you can add me to that list too, did you mean us only to thank one of the colours? :rotfl:I'm not really with the land of the living this evening. Too much to think about and on a deadline to handover some accounts on Monday I have not looked at for over 3 months.

Sorry to hear of your situation, it must be very hard for you. It sounds to me like you want to be there for her. You don't have to be strong. Be yourself and let your emotions out. It's not weak to feel pain. :A
