*sneaks head around the door, checks nobody scary is about, and starts to post in a whisper*

Spent the last few hours sorting my presentation out. Have now done the background for all my slides (sounds simple, but there's 18 of them, all slightly different so can't just copy and paste and instead had to alter it in Paint each time  ), analysed the website and planned what I'm going to say about it and in what order (though need to script it) and worked out what needs to go on each slide... Just need to write my script and construct the slides, update my journal, and research and plan my essay

Also, I think I forgot to say before, I'm getting a new car on Tuesday!! :j OH and I currently share his Ford Ka but he recently took up Ice Hockey and his kit doesn't fit in it properly :rotfl: Also it's very basic and will need some work this year to pass its MOT and its quite battered (not entirely my fault!!!) however it's only 3 years old and we've had it from new and only done 27k in it. We're basically doing a straight swap with a local garage for a W-Reg top of the range Ford Focus Zetech Climate which was on the forecourt for £3.5k (has only done 60k, had 2 owners and a full service history at the place we've bought it from, and also he's tax-and-testing it for us!) The guy said that although our Ka is in bad nick, it has very low mileage so offered us the "book price" as if it was in perfect condition. However, I'm slightly worried that he didn't even look under the bonnet of our car, and only when we had agreed to the deal did he ask if she ran ok  Oh well, off for a test drive on Saturday :D OH was teasing me that I wouldn't be able to handle a bigger car - he forgets that i learned to drive in an almost identical Focus :D

*runs off before the scary OSers catch her*

Edit: I too have been wondering about Valentine and Mushypeas - hope everything is OK with V's baby, MP had a new beau last time we heard so maybe things are just going well...?

Hi Everyone Grannybroon is back!!! Sorry, time seems to have slipped away from me since DH's return on Friday. I just love getting 3 weeks' worth of smelly clothes!Life hectic in the life of GB. Haven't seen DGSs for a couple of weeks but going to spend time with them on Saturday. They have stinky colds so had better not pass on to me!New curtains finally brought over by friend last Thursday night (been without since double glazing in September) but worth the wait! My arms are still aching from hanging them on Sunday (a total of 26 metres of fabric for 4 curtains).Have only caught up with today's thread and yesterday.Moggins - sounds like you are having a really bad time. I really think you should consider whether your health can stand up to him being there for another 3 or so weeks.Hugs and kisses to all the rest of you, especially those who aren't keeping too well at the moment.Emma - thanks for pm which I have replied to!LoveGBQuick edit - what is wrong with this site today. My post bears no resemblance to how I typed it up a minute ago!!!

    Hi again,

Nothing much to say but have enjoyed reading everyone's posts.

Re: crime fiction. I have read all of Barbara Nadel's books. I only got into her books by chance. Waterstones were selling one of her books for 99p so I thought "why not?". Her "Ikmen" series is set in Turkey and makes fascinating reading if you know nothing about Turkey (which I didn't). Good mysteries too.

Another author I got into thanks to the Waterstones 99p promotion is Andrea Camilleri. His detective series is set in Sicily and again, you learn about the culture while you read. Quirkier than Nadel but a good read all the same imho.

I have to confess that I used to be a Patricia Cornwell fan but gave up after the absolutely awful "Isle of Dogs". How that book was even published is beyond me. Have never picked up another of her books since.

Churchmouse enjoy your day off and don't feel in the least guilty. dlb you may need to have a day off tomorrow after all you've achieved. ;)

Need to go and get those chicken pies in the oven. xx

Hello everyone, not been on for a while. No real reason just fed up and can't be asked to do anything.

Started a high protein low carb diet today and apparently I am going to feel really lousy before I feel better. However, I am addicted to carbs so probably for the best.

W**k today cleaning - still really enjoying it and the money.

Hope moggins is ok. Love and hugs to all who need it.

    Afternoon

sneaked in to check up on you.

Mum, sis and bruv have gone home - yaaay.

I suppose mums can do what they like - BUT
    she arrives,
    doesn't like anything,
comments on mess ( 2 kids, DH who acts like one, and I work - yeah it will n ot be perfect!! But it damn near was!),
criticises what's on tv (having put tv on),
makes faces eating dinner (but does eat it all, and has seconds, so it can't be that bad),
then falls asleep on the couch all night.

Then gets up in the morning and announces that since her train isn't until 11 she could take DS to school and drop DD of at MIL later. NO! MIL is now up and dressed and waiting for the kids!! Would've been a great idea if she'd told us earlier.

goes in huff cos DS has been invited to a party in the easter hols and she wants him to visit her - when last time she promised him a visit and then changed her mind, leaving 4yo in tears and me with no plans to fill half term!

AAAARRGGH Then again - being a mum now, why shouldn't she be awkward -= she's spent almost 40 years looking after all of us and our awkwardnesses.!

    Rant over.

Not a lot happened at work today. Prob have to go to Delhi at the end of april. I really don't want to. Any tips on what to do - where to go shopping. Going with 2 blokes, both big drinkers, they won't want to shop, hence my not looking forward to it. But I should get 1st Class as one of them is a big boss - so won't all be bad.

Going back to read the thread now. Just needed a quick rant. Got Paolo Nuttini in the background so hopefully that'll calm me down. Was going to do the ironing - but decided I need to do it when DH is around:D. It's a shame to shatter his belief in fairies, but it has to be done.;)

    Evening everyone :hello:

Only a very quick post tonight, so (((hugs))) to all those that need them. Penny Pincher - big (((hugs))) to you and your DH.

moggins - (((hugs))) - take care and remember we're all here if you want a rant.

Ticklemouse - (((hugs))) to you to.

DH has been at home all this week because he's been studying for yet another exam. This will be number 4 of 7 before he is Microsoft certified. So, he's been in charge of the computer all this week doing his geeky stuff. I've only managed to snaffle it now because I've got an interview tomorrow and I've got to prepare for it.

In fact, I'm dreading this interview because it will be the first one in well over a year! I'm not expecting to get it, but I still want decent feedback. The school are wanting a drama and music specialist and I'm not. However, I also have to teach a lesson for 30 mins on ratio and proportion (yawn). How to pick the most boring topic in numeracy for Years 5 and 6. Thanks to the Times Educational website (and forums) I've actually come up with a fun activity, so at least it'll be semi-ok I hope!

We've also booked our summer hols - to Brittany. I found some really reasonable cottages via google, so we're staying there. Now I just have to find some ferries.............. or we'll swim :D.

As DH has an exam tomorrow and I've got an interview, I'd better go for now...
