It seems this is catching. I've had a few missed calls from this number during the past several days and a google search brought me here..........

I've had a number of missed calls over the last week or so from this number. Finally answered one today. The person said they were calling from O2. I don't think it was a scam as they were able to quote all of my home broadband and mobile phone account details back to me. They were offering a £50 mobile phone credit if you re-sign for another 12 month's broadband. The person who called me described it as a special promotional offer for long-standing customers only. There a two noticeable catches: 1) the £50 credit is paid in 5 £10 installments (to prevent people cutting and running I guess ) and 2) this offer is generally available on O2's website (so hardly special for long-standing customers).
Incidentally, after missing several calls from 02202 I called O2 customer services you could find no record of teh calls and could neither confirm nor deny that the call were from them.
Hope this helps someone.0 -

Having worked for O2 customer services this is because there's no record of incoming calls that is accessible to CSAs and if there's no note on the account saying an outbound sales call was made then there's no trace at all that Customer Services can see.
Must say I've never heard of 02202 either.0 -

O2 or not.Get some gorm.0 -
I work for LBM (O2)... its us that are calling you guys up.
www lbm co uk / WhoWeWorkWith . aspx
o2 pass your numbers to us... because of your top-up not being consistent.
we are the retentions department... our aim is to safe you money.
and BELIEVE me 75% of the customers we actully end up speaking to thank us for our calls.
Note: aprently i have heard that LBM are using 02202 for the home phone, broadband and contracts campains.
some thing i would like to point out...
that not everyone you speak to is goona be a saint... SO if you dont like getting calls from us... after the DPA just say kindly please remove me from your database. and you will be removed.
just to add say your not intrested and please suppress my details from future contact.
thats it... no more calls....
i would like to talk about the DPA
www .ico. gov. uk / what_we_cover / data_protection .aspx
1) when we call... and you ARE registered... WE HAVE TO CONFIRM YOUR DETAILS before we can continue. if you Dont we have to end the call as "not main user" and you will get a call again.
2) if your not registered WE have to ask you to register with the following
full name
address
and dob
if any of this is not given... the the registration is incomplete and we cant take a look at your account... so we then ask YOU loads of questions in order to find how we can help (which makes our job harder lol)
3) when you first buy the phone at the o2 store or where ever, you register for the warranty or marketing purpose's not the Sim. also registering online is different... thats just an online o2 account nothing to do with sim registration.
the only way to register is... throu Us when we call, o2 store or by calling 4445 customer services 25p connection fee will apply
one final note i would like to add:
when you call o2 about 02202 YOU WILL get MIXED answers
some of the DIRECT 02 Employers will know but the majority will not have a clue.
O2 has so many departments that one department DOES NOT know what the other is doing.
PLEASE ignore my typos....
i only posted this reply to somewhat clear the confusion
and I (my self) have posted this on my own accord to try and help... hope i dont get into any trouble :A
i hope this helps
if you have any questions to throw at me... ill do my best to answer...
Peace.

@Techn1976
Can you make it clear about the company that you work for please? LBM ? They are an independent company, not owned by o2? LBM are used by o2, as you have said, who pass its customers number to you for LBM to offer various services?
Have I got that right?
