  • Just visit here http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ as said above , dont give them any details if they call you, i wouldnt give my account or bank details out to anyone that has contacted me , they usually offer u sumthing better to wat u have and ask for bank details just hang up or tell them ur gunna whack them with the fone if they annoy u again
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
  • I am an 02 customer and been with them a number of years but got a call from 02202 @ 13.18 as with everyone the caller never answered when i said hello and after a few seconds the phone hung up.
I rang o2 and after putting me on hold twice as the guy tried looking through the o2 system's, he said that the number 02202 is o2 sales who called trying offer me various stuff and that they will call back again another time.
    Hope this has helped. :T
  • I had been getting daily calls from this number (02202) and wasnt answering as it was always during work. One day straight after I topped up via credit card it rang me again and the person on the line said they were calling on behalf of O2 and offering me an upgrade to my tarriff. I was really keen as I seem to spend a fortune and this seemed perfect so, quite foolishly, I provided them with most of my personal details, address, previous address, date of birth, email address and bank sort code/account number. They said they were doing a credit check and would call me back.

As soon as I hung up my phone I thought something was up, I've heard of all of these scams and I'm normally quite alert and intelligent (who knows what I was thinking) so I immediately went into panic mode.

I phoned O2 to check if it was them and after speaking to 5 seperate departments (as is typical with call centres!!!) they said they could neither confirm nor deny that it was them but they had no record. I then phoned my bank who advised that there was limited damage as i hadnt given them the long card number but that i could be victim of identiy theft and should call the police.

When I spoke to my local police station they advised me that in scotland identity theft isnt against the law so they couldnt open an incident. As a result I did start to panic big time. I registered with Equifax identity theft protection package which alerts you to new credit on your name for a monthly fee in the hope that if something did come up on my name, I would be alerted and could deal with it before it got out of hand. To give myself some piece of mind!

HOWEVER, 2 days later I received an email from O2 welcoming me to the new tarrif and confirming some of the details which was set up. It seems it was for real.

I dont normally post in the forum but I felt that I should put this on here for anyone who is genuinely worried that they have been scammed. Its likely been an external commission based agency working on behalf of O2 as it seems it was with me. I cancelled the new tarriff/sim in the end as the guy on the phone wasnt accurate with the terms and conditions and it wasnt for me.

Overall, My LESSON WAS WELL AND TRULY LEARNT!!!!!!!!!:money:
  • I have been receiving these call for the past week just kept hanging up then realised I can go into my mob setting and block the number. Hope this helps ::j

Some phones have Block Number feature or block incoming international calls (ok if you dont know anyone overseas).
  • Heyyy Im Thirteen And Have Been With O2 For About 2 Years.
I Have Never Had These Phoen Calls Before And Suddenly I Have Them.
All My Friends In School Said Im On O2 So It Is Probably Them.
But I Knew That The O2 Number Was Different.
I Have Never Answered One Cause I Am Always In School.
All The Rest Of My Family Are On O2 And Dont Have These Calls.

To Be Honest I Think It Is A Scam And If You Answer They Take Your Credit
    :/
  • This is O2's Marketing number.

You recently subscribed to a new contract or changed contracts and forgot to tick the I DONT WANT MARKETING TO CONTACT ME box.

Call O2 on your free number (202) and ask them to tick the box to stop the calls.

I have just this evening done it after only 1 call

There isn't anything like that - it's all old hoaxes. The only thing would be if you answered a reverse charge call, and told the operator that yes you will accept the charges.

And Great Use Of Capitals Too ;)

The number 02202 is presented by a company called LDM who work for o2.
  • I have been getting calls from this number for a few days now, it's driving me nuts, I don't bother to answer as I never answer unrecognised numbers.

Is there any way to block them from calling as they are a total pain in the butt!
