Is it wrong to hope when they do a walk round inspection to hope they miss it?

Or hope the guy drives through a very muddy puddle and this covers the dents (yes they are that minor)?

Or should I just nip over to the loans board now?

Argh................... (sniff sniff, feeling sorry for myself and the poor guy as I really don't want him to be slapped with an excess of that amount or rather any at all.)

On the plus side, at least I waited on him unlike many others and gave my details.

Most hire companies will try do you over, so I wouldn't loose much sleep over it :D

Also the hirer may also be liable for administration fees in addition to the cost of the repair.

Fortunately for the hirer though op owned up to it - many would have got in their car and driven away

Issue is initially between hirer and hire company. IF they spot damage and claim him then he can then claim OP.
If I was OP though I would be wanting verification of actual costs incurred but it would be difficult to force OP to chase up hire company since, as many have already stated, they the to charge as many as possible for same damage.
You can virtually guarantee that they won't get it repaired and if next sucker does not se it when they hire car, they will be hit for it as well and the next ......

Moral is, be more careful with your trolley in future.
It does not take a fast or heavy hit with trolley to cause obvious dent in car.

I had damage to a hire car - it was a deep cut through all the paintwork to the metal and I politely negotiated £150 with the hire firm instead of the £600 they first suggested
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
  • If the OP damaged the other car with her trolley, how will they be claimed against as it's not a car accident?Small claims?Maybe their home insurance covers them.

Just a quick update, came home for lunch as I have a funeral later today and there was a note through the door from the guy saying he would rather get the car repaired before returning it if possible and asked if I knew anywhere where he could get quotes, leaving his contact number and email address to see what I thought about it.

I'm going to look into dent repairs (unless anyone can recommend someone in Dundee), as I only know of Dents8 and one possible other but can't for the life of me remember it's name.

This way I have a bit of control and neither me nor the poor guy needs to worry about big bills or returning the car. (Hopefully).

Oh and the car is due back next Wednesday.

I'll keep you updated just in case it happens to any one else.

Next time, get in your car and walk away! Everyone expects to get some little scratches or bumps - its the MSE board, if it ain't broke, don't break it further! lesson learnt!

Unbelieveable, this is exactly the problem these days why people like you have such a lack of respect for other people's property.

I pity you and your lack of basic human morals.

Try somebody like Dents Away of similar, they may charge about £75 if the dents are on one panel.
