No, you don't understand: amber has special healing powers when its warmed by the skin.

I have some magic beans and some healing crystals here if anyone's interested.

I have several amber necklaces here, received as presents as common-or-garden jewellery. Does this mean I could make some money out of them now that they aren't available for sale any longer? Oh goody

Look, seriously. Even if it IS all hocus pocus - why are you getting your knickers in a twist about it?

If you don't believe it, then fine. No one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to - are they?

As I said, even if it is placebo for the parents - where's the harm?

    Sheesh!

The harm is trading standards have asked all outlets , shops and internet, to stop supplying these products.

Rospa have also cautioned parents about using them even as anklets http://safetygonesane.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/amber-teething-necklaces-is-your-child-at-risk/

No child has ever died from teething pain but the EU, trading standards, Rospa and organisations around the world are worried a child will die from choking or strangulation wearing one of these even when worn as an anklet.

The world wide recalls would certainly stop me asking where's the harm.

I love mine. My son wears it around his ankle. I feel its made a difference. When I first bought it me and OH gave it a good stretch, pull etc and it seemed fine. I do tend to either always have clothes on my LO so he cant get at it x

Will you be returning it now they've been recalled?

Nope. The website I bought from hasnt emailed me like dinodaisy have there customers. The only time my son is out of my sight, OH's or other responsible audult is at bedtime. If he can unzip his sleeping bag, unpop his baby grow, take the anklet off, break it and pick up the beads when theyre teeny and he hasnt developed pincer grip yet Id be amazed. Obviously I wouldnt be as happy with a necklace.

Ah, apparently its no longer available over the counter, but still on prescription. Shouldn't be too hard to get hold of then.

Even if it didn't exist, the amber necklaces still don't do anything except possibly endanger the child.
