OP, if the Ethernet-connected PC is the only one you use, and no other wireless devices are in use in your house, then go into the Advanced Config on the Hub and disable wireless, or change the wireless access key.

Are there any iPhones, iPod Touch, or iPads in use in the house? These will access internet through WiFi.

As previously asked, any games consoles or similar connecting via WiFi?

Nothing at all like that, so I will try your fix tomorrow.

I have just done a download/upload speed test on my connection and the results are not exactly overwhelming:

    Download - 2.04 Mbps

    Upload - 0.38 Mbps

Do you know if that was faster, or slower than any previous BB on the line?

As suggested, try turning off the wireless if it's on/changing it's password. It's a long thread, did you scan to see if you had any malware on the computers you all use, to see if something is connecting out? (including iplayer, or any other software that updates; windows included there)

There is no malware. There is only one PC and no devices, but Windows does update from time to time.
    Another 0.9GB used yesterday:(

I have gone into BT home hub and according to the settings, there are no wireless devices, so I assume that this means wireless is switched off?
Oh yes, another 1GB yesterday, so up to 7th June I have used 5.36GB and my average for a month so far is 7GB.
    !!!!!! is happening?
I should point out that it is virtually all downloading apart from 0.23GB uploading.

I think that means that there are no wireless devices connected.
    Looking at this link

it looks like you have to actually physically go into settings to turn it off.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

As above, you need to physically disable the wireless signal.
If you have the HH3, log into the Home Hub, click A-Z in top right, Select Wireless connections enable disable, Select no in the wireless network enable section and click apply.

Incidentally, are you subscribed to BTFon?
How do I add a signature?

OP, just out of interest are you using McAffee antivirus? We had a similar issue with a home user that turned out to be that app.

Thanks guys, I have now disabled the thing, and the blue light has gone off on the router. I had absolutely no idea where to find that information until you helped me out.
    Muchos gracias.
