Under the relevant regulations though dont they have to return it at their own cost ??

he clearly knows what he is up to ... give amazon a ring on this one, i think you will have to refund him his original costs but not the cost of returning the item, but hey ive been wrong before ;)

I would tell him how very sorry I was, but unfortunately Amazon's terms and conditions state that it is the buyer's responsibility to return the item at their own cost.

The link to the relevant page on Amazon is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=3149641

    It says "Returns

If you receive an item different to what was described, or that is clearly in worse condition than indicated, please contact your seller and tell them what the problem is. You should be able to reach an amicable agreement with one another. If necessary, you can return the item to the seller for a refund. They will provide you with a return address.

To be eligible for a refund, you must return your item to your seller in the same condition you received it, and the return must be postmarked within one week of receipt. Postage charges for returning the item are borne by you. Find out more below on how your refund will be handled."

    FFM :)

thank you for that, i have just been searching for that myself.

do i have to accept returns if someone purchases in error or changes their mind?

and do i have to refund the original postage he paid? i certainly hope not.

what does this mean "Sellers can create full refunds for buyers, including original delivery costs. When you purchase an item via Amazon.co.uk Marketplace" ?

that i have to refund original delivery costs or just that it is possible to?

sadly i think you have to refund everything he paid,

however why should you 'pay' for his error ???

i don't see why i should have to, i am not a business so surely the distance selling/7 day cooling off period does not apply to me

i am pretty sure this does not apply to ebay private sellers so why should it apply to amazon private marketplace sellers

DSR may not apply to you, but....
...It's within amazons participation agreement that buyers have the right to return items.

Very few people who sell on amazon are familiar with the participation agreement though all will have had to agree to it to begin selling on their site where they make the rules.

I would suggest that he rejects the item but if it got lost in the post on its way back to me then it would be my responsibility but since it is meant to be his responsibility to return it then I would rather he paid to return it and got proof in the form of a certificate of posting or recorded delivery slip

i am willing to accept the return and refund item cost only.

i cannot find any reference to me having to refund the original delivery cost though.

its a huge grey area as it doesnt cover the buyer changing mind occasions on amazons policy, and the info on selling regs only talks about businesses.

if you feel strongly enough about it, stick by your guns, but get back up from amazon first so when/if you get a neg you can have it removed,
